The reason IK is winning over people is because he spend 16 years in the trenches building support and doing the hard work.
.
Absolutely WRONG. IK has been a failure in past 16 years in politics. He knew nothing about politics. I dont know what his hardwork you are refering to. In 2002 he was stupid to ask Musharraf for whole of seats although in reality he could barely win his own seat. In 2008 election, he was stupid to think that this goverment wont last long and by boycotting election he would win support. Also he was stupid enough to trust Nawaz Sharif who was asking him to boycott elections, but NS at the end went for elections , and this dumbo left for yelling in TV talk shows. He even admitted that his boycotting was a political mistake. Had he not boycotted election and had some seats in election, he would have been able to influence the goverment today.
His only success has been in cricket and a cancer hospital and they say a college or something. The reason of growth in his popularity now is, is not any of his abilities in politics or a charisma... Rather it is the failure of PPP, PML N, ANP that has made the life of people so much hard that they are looking for any new leader or a third option to vote. And since there is no better solution than what they see as IK, so they are coming to his rallies. The reason now they are comming in Rallies is the media, because of electronic media which was created by Musharraf goverment, has enabled him to address People on TV and let people learn about him, i.e. hear his idealistic/naive/bigoted views. If it had been in 1990s, Would Zardari goverment allowed him to use PTV for his abusive comments against goverment? No, it was not possible. It is possible now only because there is a free and independent media which he can use, and can abuse its creator.
I am not an anti-IK but one has to say the truth and put the facts right. Surely no one say that IK is currupt or is not honest but running a country like Pakistan where no shortage of controversies, dealing with US, EU, India, terrorists, secterian violence, takes a lot more than raising funds for a cancer hospital or managing a cricket team to conincidently win a world cup.
As of current situation there is very little chance that he will get enough votes to become PM, if he does, I hope he runns the country better than current thugs.
