The highlighted parts happened only when all else failed & Uncle Sam called.." reformed convict.."

The change of heart happened for two reasons. One, as mentioned that his guile misfired & two, US ( upon whom his personal survival hinged besides that of Pk) saw thru the deciet he played in Af/ AQ & the region and complelled him to change his spots.

What he says is worth a listen but with a hand ful of salt. No one can deny that what afflicts Pk is self inflicted.

Actually he was under no compulsions to do anything more than a token house arrest of Hafiz Saeed and banning of the LeT (which he did) to get the pressure off him.

The US needed him too much to raise too much of a stink over insurgents in Kashmir, given 80% of its supplies go through Pakistan, and especially after the Iraq invasion. Musharraf could have turned on the insurgent tap anytime and had absolutely no compulsions to offer concessions on Kashmir - yet he did so.

That is why he is indeed credible.

RAW’s involvement in terror activities in Pak only random inferences : Qureshi

Islamabad, June 11 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has admitted that speculations about involvement of Indian Intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in terrorism inside Pakistan were only random inferences.

Talking to media persons at the Multan airport, Qureshi said there are several ‘hidden forces’ behind the persistent pandemonium in Pakistan.

Qureshi also urged India to resume the stalled peace talks as soon as possible.

“Pakistan is more desirous of dialogue as it cherishes peace that could not be brought about without parleys with its neighbours,” The Daily Times quoted Qureshi, as saying.

Commenting on the Swat offensive against the Taliban and other extremists, he said the military’s operation enjoyed the full support of the people.

“No operation can succeed without public support. This support is being enjoyed by the army and law-enforcement agencies,” he added.

Qureshi said the international community was satisfied with the ongoing military offensive, and has assured all help to Pakistan in its war against the Taliban in Malakand Division.

stop making stuff and face the reality

India started destabilizing East Pakistan long before 1971, and long before the refugee crises expanded into the scale that it did - that is borne out by Manekshaw's comments as well as Raina's book on RAW activities in East Pakistan in the sixties.

The report i linked says arms started flowing into Bangladesh(in considerable amounts) only in 1971. Reported by CIA. Discussed by the President of USA with his secretary. Please give links to sources of whatever you have mentioned.

Also - thread closed, since everything that could be said has been said on Musharraf's accusation.

The Indians have offered their reasons for disagreeing, we have offered ours on why Musharraf is credible.

Typically the threads turn into flame wars beyond this point, and the thread is already digressing into an argument over India's role in supporting various proxies over the years.

Please PM me if anything new turns up on this issue, and thread will be re-opened.

Thread link will be in the 'India destabilizing Pakistan' sticky.
