Musharraf linked to Benazir's security issue

You haven't read it have you?

We call Musharraf a American agent, well not really, for the last decade the people been calling him a triator, where were you. It is high time he be brough to justice from which he ran.

I thanked you (not that its a big deal) for your persistence in sticking to your line of thought. Don't blame you as others feel just as passionately about Musharraf as you do about PPP ;)

Exactly why get personal, we dont earn money from it. We are sharing opinions, what comes up tomorrows headlines is nobodies guess, lets not get personal, I have a view you have a view lets debate.

Interceptor,

This is Pakistan we are talking about. What Army says does matter. Lets not look at this from an idealistic standpoint.

You should be happy if Musharraf decides to go and we should hope that NS and AZ would not push their lucks by going after him beyond his resignation (if he does resign).

Army may not do anything right now as it may look like overt interference, but it can definitely make things very tough for the government. This would be done if the Army feels that Musharraf is being scapegoated or their former Army Chief is being maligned unnecessarily.

I feel it would be ideal that we dont have international scene, and I thought progressively through out the debate that if Mr Musharraf is to fight than do it through the Vote of confidence, if he is that admired by the Pakistani nation, however the reality is that resignation might deliver a note of understanding Blain, it might set a tone that he agrees he is in the wrong, and that might make him free to sit in Pakistan without trial, however, if he carries on sticking to fight, he might well get into a fight where in only one winner will emerge.

My analysis is that Musharraf may resign, he doesn't want a trail than he will resign because, the PPP does not sympathize a trial for Musharraf, you need to look at it in not a personal way but through the eyes of the nation, but I also believe it would be hard to avoid a trial PML-N, ANP are one of those who support a trial and they are also big players in the coalition government.

About the Army's involvement well this is Pakistan and it remains country that is run through the Constitution of 1973, which is why the Army must obey its civilian master constitutionally, but what you are asking for is confrontation from the army on the impeachment decision, that would erupt Marshall Law Blain, and than Pakistan will be in new game it might be bloody game. If you are patriot than you should avoid the though that the Army will save Musharraf, why that would not save Musharraf instead it will endanger whole of Pakistan.

If a nation is in danger, then being unfair and unjust while trying to fix it won't do. Musharraf has given his best to Pakistan (even though he failed at quite a few things). He fought for Pakistan, he served the country and when he became President (I am not debating how etc.), he did his best and his best yielded better results on more fronts than what any of his predecessors (aside from Ayub) can claim.

What I am absolutely against is even the possibility of somebody dragging him through the courts for their own personal edification (NS). He deserves much better than this. Also the injustice of all this is that our bloody nation is not worthy of judging one over the other. While he is to be put on trial, what about the millions stolen from Pakistan by that Mr. 10% and NS? The mansion at Raiwind is all from ill-gotten money. What kind of justice are we trying to get at? Ours is a nation of hypocrites. There is no other way to describe us. We use Islam to hide our hypocrisy to get to our goals. We love party politics more than we love Pakistan (and let me remind you that this is a jab at PPP and PML-N). I do not say this because I have some sort of personal hatred for these two parties, its just that their leadership stinks and is petty and does NOT care about Pakistan (Hussain Haqqani's recent outburst about the President of Pakistan and that too to outsiders in the US is something to think about, where are we as a nation going? Where is our national pride? Where is our self respect?)

Admittedly I am not a supporter of PPP but I will admit that I was personally filled with pride the day Benazir Bhutto took office for the time. I was inspired by her leadership but was disappointed later but not to the point that I gave up on her. Her 2nd stint, I was again hopeful and then let down again. NS was a dismal disappointment every time in the office. Then came along Musharraf, who blundered and made mistakes but was also able to do some things right. So if we are judging, by what standard are we judging?

Lastly, I would agree with you that Musharraf is but a person, but his legacy is not about just the blunders (which others have made more of), rather it is the hope that he brought to the nation. He did his best, admitted his mistakes (which nobody in Pakistan ever does or ever did), maybe he overstayed his stay but even then he does not deserve what these petty thieves (NS, AZ) are cooking up for him. Pakistan's future is in the hands of these two looters who are convicted criminals (that they deny these charges as politically motivated does not cut it because we know the truth is different). Having this much knowledge about the character of these two folks yet persisting on their leadership is a suicide which we as a nation have decided to commit. So I wish you good luck with this. Too bad that I have to watch the country go through this fiasco. :tsk::tsk:

You have to understand Mr Interceptor, that not everyone here feels that Musharraf "is in the wrong" like you do, atleast no more "wrong" than Mr Zardari or Mr Sharif. Musharraf's criminal record is pretty clean, especially if you compare it to some of the other 'democraticly' elected(or maybe not elected) people who seem to be reaping the benefits of all the Anti-Musharraf sentiments, and given the time Musharraf has been in office...thats kinda like a miracle. I think talking about a trial is taking it waaaaay too far, and I am sure the Army WILL not allow that to happen, because there is a limit to everything. Thugs running political parties is one thing, the political parties themselves not being democratic is another, these parties interfering in military/national security affairs for their own shallow ends is pretty bad too...but going after an ex-president like this just out of primitive vindictive mentality is clearly crossing the line. If this was about accountability then Zardari and Sharif would both be in prison, not calling the shots where the country's future is concerned, so it is clearly NOT.
