Mumtaz Qadri Hanged in Adiyala Jail

Justice is served. There will be some protests but soon this murderer will be forgotten.

. .
But justice was served and that is the important thing. I am not sure that 5 years ago public opinion would have allowed Qadri to be hung. 5 years ago, I got the sense that public opinion was with Qadri.(ordinary people not the educated liberal Pakistanis).

It Will be interesting to see the reaction of the political mullahs. If they don't protest and it fizzles out quietly, this is a huge turning point for the country. If they fight back...well...

Bolded part.
I don't know why people have this idea? Because maybe about a few thousand people mourned the death of Bin Laden? Maybe a few thousand lawyers supported Qadri? All this in a 'conservative' population of 180 MILLION?!

I don't think the liberal PDF represents 'the Pakistan' as such but I also think still far far fewer Pakistanis align with Qadris and Bin Ladens.

Mr. Qadri's death is almost going to be taken in a stride within Pakistan, despite his few thousand supporters. One needs to go back to 2007--before the start of the operation against the Lal Masjid goons--to realize where the 'public opinion' stood/stands. People maybe intimidated by these violent thugs--but are not enamored with them in a large majority.

This is my 'sense'.

. .
My sense is that if not a majority than a significant minority does/did support Qadri.

This support doesn't necessarily translate into support for the likes of Taliban for a variety of reasons.

One being because the braveli sect here is the major support base of Qadri....the ulema of this sect also oppose the taliban in equal measure.

The most important factor for the support is the sensitivity of your average South Asian towards the Prophet (SAW) and everything related to him.

You will find it more here than in any other part of the muslim world hence even the strong reaction to Rushdie.

Its all very complicated but the positive thing is the state has decided to put its foot down.

At one time millions of Americans supported the KKK but it fizzled out because their narrative lost out to the power of the state as well as basic human decency.

Justice delayed is justice denied......these are very true words. Plus justice should be held whatever the public opinion.

Also its not just this particular case, there are millions of cases where people have been waiting for over a decade or even longer for the courts to provide them justice. This is unfair and is cause for concern.

Wow, this I did not expect!

Does anyone know what ordinary people think of this? Public opinion for or against?
ordinary people don't give a f###...some extraordinary a#$%@#$ might wanna try something but thats it.....extremists are losing public support thankfully

this time from dil se ! Thank you Gen Shareef !

If it were upto our politicians this murderer would still be alive today. Thanks to the army they got the job done.

Justice has been served

Khas kum Jahan pak.

No 72 hoors waiting for this idiot in Jannat. He is going to hell to rot there forever.

Justice denied creates so much imbalance in society.. Even if majority are with Qadri it's still thousands time better to go with the law rather than creating confusion in whole system..

How did you deduce that majority is with Qadri? Qadri enjoys support of few hard line wahabi Mullahs who are mostly there for political purposes. You wont see any one weeping in Pakistan over his death.

Bralvi, not Wahhabi. Qadri was Bralvi, and it was the Bralvi leaders that are threatening agitation. The Wahabi and Salafi are actually being supportive about his hanging.
