Apprehensive of losing the by-elections to be held on 11 Assembly and one Lok Sabha seats on September 13, Mulayam Singh Yadav was seen praising Pakistan with hope to woo the minority community.
However, the RSS has said that Mulayam was hell-bent on maligning the Indian Muslims for votes. Facing stiff opposition from the BJP, the Samajwadi Party president said on Wednesday evening said that Modi government should love and embrace Pakistan in any case.
"There are some forces which have been creating problems for Pakistan. I believe that Pakistan is a strong nation but not as strong as India. Pakistan is India's younger brother and we must love them in any case," Mulayam said at a rally.
Mulayam's critics believe that his speech would have sufficed to win Muslim votes in Mainpuri, his family bastion, without showing his extra-ordinary love for Pakistan.
After Pakistan, Mulayam immediately jumped to Godhra carnage, blaming Modi for whatever happened in Gujarat in 2002.
Dubbing it as a "dangerous design of Mulayam to polarise the Muslim votes" Ram Prakash Gupta, Sah-Vibhag Sanghchalak of Gonda Vibhag (Devipatam Division) of the RSS said, "This indicates towards two dangerous things. Mulayam believes that Indian Muslims have affinity with Pakistan and they could be lured in election by praising the neighbour. Since he believes that Indian Muslims can vote for him if he praises Pakistan, he must also be of the view that Indian Muslims are anti-India. But I don't agree with him and his politics of polarisation."
Wish we had a secular PM like Mulayamji.
