Unit: 12 A.K. (AKRF) 1948-1957

Unfortunately I don't know much about maternal grandfather, he passed away years before my birth and most of his documents are held by a different branch of the family. All I have is a duplicate copy of discharge certificate and certificate for a Pakistani Army English Exam.

Any gallantry award?

Not that I know, but as mentioned bro I only have two of his things. I remember when I was very young his things were kept in a massive storage box, which included his rifles, uniforms etc.
During 2005 earthquake many people lost the belongings of 1947,65,71 war veterans included gallantry awards and documents. Around 40,000 Sudhan tribesmen joined WW2 after qualifying the status of martial race and they were the real force behind Poonch uprising and liberation of many Azad Kashmir districts.

I am trying my best to preserve the remaining of our brave hearts who fought with courage for freedom. Mujhida Hussain Bibi house is only 5 Km away from my ancestral village and there are many more who sacrificed but no body knows their true identity. :(

Blow mentioned thread will help you to get some insight regarding AJK uprising.

Best of luck brother in your noble efforts, I really wish there were more people as interested in preserving this as you are. And I will definitely be reading these up, I am reasonably versed in the AJK and Jammu and Kashmir uprisings, just don't know exactly what role my grandfather played in these events.

@Jonah Arthur

May Allah ta'ala give all these shaheeds a high station in paradise. You can hold your head up high for the sacrifices of your ancestors, but I guess it also places on us a higher burden for trying to follow their footsteps.

@Jonah Arthur We are working on a project about men from what is now Pakistan that fought in WW1 and WW2. If you come across details and stories of veterans from your area please get in touch with me by PM. Much as people might moan about these men who fought for Britain, forget one very, very important fact. It was these men who gave Pakistan the arms and legs to fight India in 1947 and subsequently. Many of the elite regiments of Pakistan Army are from the British era and have illustrious record for valour. We are recording this for posterity.

I have read about her and Col Shers accounts of valor.

Indeed this soil produces not just men but women of steel.

My respects to one of the mothers of this nation.
Bro if you have related information please share because there are many confusions among us regarding real events.
I tried to approach some media personnel to prepare documentaries regarding these freedom fighters but no one listed to me. I want to spread their cause, struggle and sacrifices to every resident of this country.
