Absolutely Praaji. Every where there are people who have vested interests and with scores of dailies and news channels, there hardly is any chance of media exercising restraint before telecasting or publishing a news. yes it might perk up the sales, but a lot of times it does irreversible damage.
I said on some thread, any attempt by government to curb these stupid acts are often taken as attack of freedom of press.
I won't say in all cases, but as far as defence establishment is concerned, i think we can do with little bit of censorship and a some maturity of media houses.

The problem is, and I have seen this so many times, that the initial (false) report gets massive media coverage and spread but when these reports are exposed (usually by smaller media outlets/independent journos) this gets almost no coverage. So whilst the truth is eventually put out it does not get anywhere near as much penetration amongst the public as the initial lie and thus leaves a lasting (false) impression on the public.

Same nonsense is happening on a daily basis these days. All those reports you see of the Rafale deal being close to being scrapped or the EFT/Gripen being reconsidered are 100% paid items by their respective agents. This treachery is incredibly harmful to India as more often than not the media who are meant to be proponents of fact and truth are working to someone else's agenda and that agenda is rarely in India's interests.

It makes no difference who is in charge, no security system is foolproof. The AIS on the LoC is very, VERY effective and keeps out the majority of such scum but, unfortunately, as long as the supply of such scum remains unchanged from Pakistan then there will be a consistent trickle of these fools coming into India. There's nothing the GoI can do, there is no such thing as infallible security. So I hardly blame the present GoI for that attack, that is, of course, the fault of the terrorists and those facilitating them. Had the same attack happened under MMS I wouldn't have blamed him either.

As much as I utterly despise this d!ck measuring contest that goes on at the borders vis a vis cease fire violations and the tit for tat exchanges, it does seem that the new GoI has changed the SOPs to one degree or another:

Firstly the kind of operations you were talking about before (going after Hafiz Saeed and Dawood Ibrahim) has absolutely no link to the border security in Kashmir. On topic: I didnt know that there was a NDA exam that can help us to join military as officers when I passed higher secondary .My Father didnt mention about it even if he was retired from Navy.When I showed some interests in it he discouraged me .Now I understand that was a good decision.

I don't know, maybe the checks stopped coming from LM but he was certainly the most vocal proponent for the F-35 for a long time in India:
