Staff Report
Hyderabad: The representatives of elected local bodies, affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), have launched a new campaign against the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief, Imran Khan, by writing letters to the British prime minister, asking him to stop Khans drive against the MQM chief, Altaf Hussain.
Earlier, Khan had announced that he would take legal action in London against Hussain following the May 12 violence in Karachi, however before Khan could take any action, workers of the MQM chalked statements against Khan all over Karachi and Hyderabad. Furthermore, the MQM workers also staged various demonstrations against the PTI.
Following such measures, the MQM representatives have now decided to alter their strategy by turning to the British prime minister for help. Daily Times has learnt that once the letters against Khan were drafted, they were handed over to certain internet cafes, from where the Haq Parast Panels nazims and councilors, e-mailed the letters to the British prime minister and the U.K. embassy in Pakistan.
According to sources, the letters alleged that the MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, was trying to improve living standards for Pakistanis however his efforts were being stopped by certain local elements, who were trying to unjustly defame him. The letters further showed full support for Hussains policies. Daily Times visited one of these internet cafés, located in Gari Khata. However, the owner refused to show a copy of the letter.
