But back then GM syed was the premier Sindhi nationalist leader asking for sindh s total independence From Pakistan, as a new state called SINDHUDESH.
BACKDROP of that, was a secretly backed urban SINDH movement,called MQM.
AFTER the creation of MQM the attractions of SINDHUDESH Went allnose down.

Even PPP & BB were brought back, for the same reasons.
When all that Was happening retried general Was in the key positions, regarding decision taken that time.

Former army chief Mirza Aslam Beg said on Friday the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was established as a political measure to counter the Sindhi nationalist movement following the hanging of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Talking to a private TV channel, Beg said the MQM did not exist before 1978 and was established on the directions of General Ziaul Haq, then military ruler, only to counter Sindhi nationalists who had lost Bhutto after Zia's military coup.

He said the caretaker government under Ghulam Ishaq Khan had decided to support the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) to counter the PPP in order to balance the political atmosphere. "I think the formation of the IJI was a right decision at the time," he said.

Beg said the IJI were the only means that could create a strong opposition at the time.

He said former president Pervez Musharraf had created and supported the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and the PML-Q to prolong his term in office, but no one had pointed that out.

Beg said he believed the Bahawalpur plane crash that killed Gen Ziaul Haq was "sabotage".

it makes as much sense as creating taliban to counter russian threat. there is always something created to counter some threat that was created before against some other threat and circle goes on.

It's not make any sense, Zia created MQM to crash Sind Nationalist?
I think if he did that he want to eliminate JI from Karachi politics Karachi is clean from JI terrorists. Oh well, how Zia can do that? JI was his number one Jehadi collectors party as well as PMLN.

First time I came to know that there is character names Altaf hussain is when i saw a small sticker in a bus "all Pakistan muhajr student organization.....president Altaf hussain". That was back in late 70s and would normally see this sticker in No. 6 and 5C buses both pass from Azizabad. Then onevday one bus full of MQM member going to Hyderabad for a Jalsa got attacked at Sohrab goth (when Karachi was free from any political or ethnic tension) ... thats the day MQM started and it started with attacking Pathan businesses and transports. Since that day Pakistani people have lost peace from their lives. I have lost many friends to MQM who got lured by them for the cause of Mohajir qaum and when they found out the reality and tried to leave they went missing.

these things dont happen without a plan.

FYI MQM got their first Weapons from Sindhi Nationalists (JSQM) themselves not from Army back in 1980s....If Army had any such Intentions then they would have ARMED MQM for this cause as well just like USA and Pakistan Armed Mujaheddin against Soviet.....

Very Young I Admit and Family always tried to stay away from Troubles One of my Cousin got involve with them during those days but when they got Weapons Whole Family Pressured him (They had to keep him in Home by forcr) out of MQM otherwise he would end up with the same Fate...

It could be true... there are many "oppressed", "weak", "hungry", "poor" Mahajirs in the Pakistan army with 13,000 ruppees higher GDP per capita than the Punjabis and at the top place who could have started the MQM with good intentions but it is ultimately our fault that we let it scuttle out of control into a militant movement.

Zia Ul Haq turned a blind eye to the MQM and it was very much under his support that the MQM found patronage.

By the way it is interesting to note that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto the founder of Pakistan Peoples Party was foreign minister in the government of Ayub Khan, a dictator. On the other hand Nawaz Sharif was also chief minister in the government of 'Zia Ul Haq. Remember that when these parties give you "Bhashan" about being democratically elected. They rose on the lap of military dictators, both some of the worst in the history of Pakistan.

So Zia, a religious fascist, created an openly leftist and secular organisation who's founding principles was to fight Punjabi hegemony, same as the Sindhi nationalists. What did this guy smoke before he came up with this stupid statement. I wonder what the people who believe him also smoke?

It was way back right after 1965 when Gohar Ayub gathered a mob of an ethnic group armed with guns and knives start butchering urdu speaking community, at least 30 killed hundreds wounded dozens of houses set on fire, their fault was supporting Mader e Millat Mohtarma Fatima Ali Jinnah and dictator of that time so angry to teach a lesson for that.
This was the rising the awareness moments among urdu speaking community which lead to form APMSO later.

MQM has done all of it, & has figures Sindhi hegemony more then any one else?
