Then you needed a political party which can defuse both secular PPP & it's Sindhi nationalist card?
MQM has done all of it, & has figures Sindhi hegemony more then any one else?
But it doesn't make sense, PPP was never strong in urban Sindh. And making a Muhajir Nationalist movement is not going to have a very large following in interior Sindh is it? So how PPP going to get weak? Or the Sindhi Nationalist?
Urban Sindh always tilted towards Pro federalists or Religious parties. Both of whom are beneficial to the establishment. It just seems incredibly stupid of the establishment to create something which is very obviously not going to be in its favour.
