Protesters say the dress could encourage the tomboy culture among Saudi girls

A new woman’s dress adorned with pictures of men’s moustaches has sparked a furor in conservative Saudi Arabia.

The Arabic language daily ‘Al Waqe’ said it had received calls from many Saudis protesting sale of this dress and urging the authorities to ban it.

The paper said its photographer had spotted the dress in a shop which had put up a large signboard announcing “new arrival” in both Arabic and English.

It said some of the callers were women who demanded withdrawal of the dress from all shops in the country.

“One woman said she had noticed that many girls had bought the dress and that it is becoming popular among local women,” the paper said.

“Some men called on the Ministry of Commerce to immediately intervene and ban the sale of this dresses on the grounds that it infringes local traditions. Some of them said the dress could encourage the tomboy culture which is already spreading among Saudi girls,” the paper added.

The word is hypocracy at it's best......these people who give the impression to be all conservative at home.....they truly expose themselves as soon as they set foot in a Western city..... believe me I've seen and experienced it.

True for lots of people not just Saudis..... One of my "syed" neighbors always pretend like a righteous household they even complain if somebody is found starring at their girls, but you should really see their daughter who was in my university.....she would get out of home with a huge shawl covered from head to toe and a few steps away from university, everything would vanish even the sleeves of her shirts, would put on tons of makeup and even had a boyfriend in whose car she would skip classes and the funniest part is they got married. and dont even get me started on my cousins from Europe when in Pakistan before going out they wear hijabs but when in Europe they wear shorts.
