Egyptian Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr and President of the Mediterranean World Economic Foresight Institute Jean-Louis Guigou during the signing of an agreement in Paris.

Egypt signed Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Paris with the Mediterranean World Economic Foresight Institute (L’Institut de Prospective Economique du Monde Méditerranéen – IPEMED) during the economic forum on the future of economic relations between Egypt and France.

Egypt’s Investment Minister Sahar Nasr signed the MoU with President of IPEMED Jean-Louis Guigou.

The MoU aims at enhancing regional and investment cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region and promoting investment opportunities in Egypt’s private sector investment map to 44 countries in the region.

Nasr said that it comes within the framework of the ministry's plan to attract investments, transfer expertise, provide all investment services and establish companies.

Egypt follows a clear strategy to create an investment climate in Egypt and attract foreign investments to support the Egyptian economy, she explained.

Notably, Egypt’s investment law, its executive regulation and the investment map work to determine the possibilities and opportunities for investment and facilitate the procedures through the identification of investment areas of these provinces to enable investors to identify investment opportunities.

Nasr added that the ministry will work on developing bilateral cooperation with IPEMED in the areas of manufacturing, transportation, water, and energy.

For his part, Guigou pointed out that the main objective of the IPEMED is to promote economic integration between the north and the south on the Mediterranean.

The Institute looks forward to having a broad regional scope covering Africa, the Mediterranean and Europe, with a long-term goal of linking public and private partners to a large number of member states, he said.

Guigou also explained that the MoU aims at raising awareness on available economic opportunities in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries.

On the other hand, Jeremy Bellet, deputy executive director of AFD, met Nasr and praised the economic reforms carried out by Egypt, stressing the agency’s keenness to support Egypt’s economic program.
