Mothers of all Palestinians must be killed: Israeli MP

Israeli lawmaker Ayelet Shaked

A well-known Israeli politician and parliament member has branded Palestinians as terrorists, saying mothers of all Palestinians should also be killed during the ongoing Israeli assault on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Ayelet Shaked of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party called for the slaughter of Palestinian mothers who give birth to "little snakes."

"They have to die and their houses should be demolished so that they cannot bear any more terrorists," Shaked said, adding, "They are all our enemies and their blood should be on our hands. This also applies to the mothers of the dead terrorists.”

The remarks are considered as a call for genocide as she declared that all Palestinians are Israel's enemies and must be killed.

The development comes as many officials from various countries have slammed Israel's airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. The Turkish prime minister is the latest to condemn the offensive, accusing Israel of massacring the Palestinians.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan has lashed out at Israel, saying it is committing state terrorism against the Palestinians in the region. Speaking in parliament, he also questioned the world’s silence toward Tel Aviv’s ongoing atrocities.

Reacting to Shaked's remarks, the Turkish premier said Israel's policy in Gaza is no different than Hitler's mentality.

"An Israeli woman said Palestinian mothers should be killed, too. And she's a member of the Israeli parliament. What is the difference between this mentality and Hitler's?" Erdogan asked.

The developments come as the UN agency for Palestinian refugees has recently said women and children make up a sizeable number of Palestinian fatalities caused by Israeli attacks on the besieged region.

I believe it is important to remain objective when reading such kinds of news articles. Like in scientific research, before one accepts data as scientifically supported, one has to look at the methodology, the sampling and the literature review.

The reference in this case leaves me wanting.

She is far right - but this is what happened.

She posted on her facebook a quote from 2002 made by Uri Elitzur. This was made at the height of the Intifada when Israelis were suffering the worst suicide bombings and tensions were high

It said
That still seems like a shitty thing to say.

I already knew that you didn't care about important things such as innocent people being slaughtered.

Like Jew York Times for example?
You're a moron. Her words aren't directly killing people. She said something stupid, but my concern is if she really said it or not.

You're disgusting.

Given the provocations of both sides, it may be inevitable that emotionally sensitive responses may be taken in the wrong way.

I am in the position and belief that Israel wants peace with Palestine and that through transparency, recognition of Israel and infrastructure-related projects in Palestine will lead to growth, and peace between these two states. And thus a lasting realization of the Two States Solution.

The posts were considered as a call for genocide because it declared that "the entire Palestinian people is the enemy" and justifies its destruction, "including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure." she also called for the slaughter of Palestinian mothers who give birth to "little snakes."

I think both sides aren't serious about negotiating for peace. The Israelis are just fine with the status quo, and the Palestinians don't want to negotiate until the Israelis gives up it's settlements in the west bank, and lets Palestine control it's own borders, neither of which Israel is willing to do.

Turkey's Erdogan compares Ayelet Shaked to Hitler

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has compared Habayit Hayehudi lawmaker Ayelet Shaked to Adolf Hitler and accused Israel of committing "state terror" against the Palestinians.

The Knesset member earlier this month wrote on Facebook, "Who is the enemy? The Palestinian people. Why? Ask them, they started it."

In a weekly address to his parliamentary group Tuesday, Erdogan said Shaked's mentality was like Hitler's.

“If these words had been said by a Palestinian, the whole world would have denounced it,” he said, according to a report by Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.

Erdogan also addressed the latest round of escalation between Israel and Hamas, saying Israel has been guilty of “systematic atrocity and state terror” against the Palestinians since 1948.

Regarding Egypt's proposal for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, Erdogan lauded the initiative, but said Israel should “immediately lift the illegal embargo on Palestine,” along with outlining the terms of a cease-fire.

He blasted the international community over its "inaction" in the face of Israel's Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip, adding that the West has "ignored the Palestinian tragedy since 1948,” and that the U.S. hasn't worked hard enough for a two-state solution.

"Israel continues to terrorize. Moving beyond individual terrorism, it’s now committing state terror," Hurriyet cited him as saying.

The Turkish prime minister said he hoped a cease-fire would avoid any more deaths of Palestinian children, describing these as “the dirty politics of the Middle East.

"No country in the world, except Turkey, can stand against Israel’s attacks and urge it to stop. I recall, once again, that those who commit brutalities will sooner or later pay the price,” he said.

Turning to Israelis, he said that Israel will never see peace and stability if continues "these policies."

“They say, ‘Hamas is rocketing as well.’ Yes, but there are no casualties. You killed 200 Palestinians. The Israeli people will never be in security and prosperity if they continue these policies," Hurriyet cited him as saying.

Israel and Turkey have been trying to patch up their relationship since Turkey downgraded its ties in September 2011, following the deadly Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla, in which nine Turks were killed.

Erdogan said there will be no normalization of ties between Israel and Turkey if Israel continues "to kill innocent children and continue its operations in Gaza."

It is, but it's not like being portrayed here and the quote was made when Israelis were having suicide attacks constantly.
Sometimes the context doesn't really help. In this case, the quote is still racist, and should be condemned, no matter in what context it's put into.
