  • Jiang Yanhong’s 12-year-old child fell ill two days after getting her first dose of a coronavirus vaccine
  • Jiang was taken into custody after trying to petition authorities in Beijing for an explanation, friends say

A single mother has been detained in central China after she tried to petition authorities in Beijing about the death of her 12-year-old daughter after having a Covid-19 vaccine, her friends said.
Jiang Yanhong was detained by police in Nanle county, Puyang, Henan province, on Friday on charges of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble”, friend Yang Ruijuan said.
Jiang’s younger sister Jiang Yanchao, who also tried to petition the authorities, was detained as well.
Nanle police said on Saturday in a notice to a family member that Jiang Yanhong was being held at the Puyang detention centre.

Yang said county officials tried to stop her friend from petitioning authorities in Beijing and threatened her with arrest after the 44-year-old mother demanded explanations about her daughter’s death.

Jiang Yanhong’s daughter Li Boyi died in late August after having a Covid-19 vaccine.

Boyi had her first shot on August 10 and fell seriously ill two days later. She died in hospital on August 28.

According to Li Guanjun, a legal advocate who has been advising the mother, Jiang Yanhong was not satisfied with the hospital’s explanation that the girl died because of brain dysfunction caused by septic inflammation.

“The existing medical materials cannot prove the direct relationship between the death and the vaccine, and [Jiang Yanhong] does not recognise the conclusion, and has applied for another assessment,” Li said.

“She is now detained while she is still waiting for a reply from the medical association in Puyang about her request.”

Yang said Jiang Yanhong went to Beijing in early September to complain about how local officials refused to handle her case and was warned by Nanle officials last month that she would face arrest if she continued to petition.

She said Jiang Yanhong pressed ahead with her petition after the National Day holidays and she was detained on Friday in Puyang on her return from Beijing.
Repeated calls to Nanle health authorities and police on Tuesday were unsuccessful.

A Henan-based lawyer familiar with the case said it would be difficult to defend the mother.
“Local cadres will do everything they can including imposing penalties to stop people from travelling to Beijing to petition because the authorities will soon hold a political meeting there,” the lawyer said, referring to a plenary session of the Communist Party’s Central Committee to be held in early November.

“It is even more complicated now with the issues of prevention and control for the Covid-19 pandemic. Any claims that the death may be related to vaccination would also make it a very sensitive case.”

One should read between the lines carefully esp. with articles by SCMP.

It is a case of a highly emotional mother in grief after the lost of her child. She will soon progress into a stage of depression.

She was likely apprehended for different reason including her owm safety e.g. suicidal.

SCMP just assigned her petition as the only reason why she was arrested. Sounds political.

IMO She can never win the case anywhere in the world as it is very difficult to prove the linkage.

More intersting would be go see if the late Colin Powell family will or can sue US Pharmaceutical Giant for his death due to complications due to COVID since he was fully vaccinated.

1, No vaccine is 100% safe. In Taiwan, there are 387 died because of covid vaccine injection. China mainland's population is 60 times larger than Taiwan. And Chinese vaccines are banned in Taiwan. I don't know how many Americans died due to covid vaccines. It must be a big number.

2, How come Taiwanese and people from other places could quietly accepted vaccine death while some Chinese asked for an explanation? Because unlike people in other places outside world, Chinese people are used to a responsible government and they are not afraid of the government. They are spoiled to some extent. This article is indirectly praising Chinese government.

3, The famliy should get some compensation but I don't think it is for granted.

How so? Indians have natural immunity. Chinese don't. No person will ever tour China again. They will not stay in quarantine camp for 21 days.
We don't want jerks in here. We only welcome people with self-control and a certain level of intelligence. People who can't control themselves, like marijuana users, anti-mask people, anti-quarantine people, people who can't control themselves, like anti-vaccine people, inferior conspiracy theorists.

Your toiletless country doesn't even make the top 20 ranking in terms of international visitors. We're still whipping your *** even with border lockdown.

Is she out of her mind, she must remember she lives in China.

Have some compassion. She just lost her daughter. Any mother would want to know more about the cause of death.

Lol, not sure whether you're trolling at this point. That's some satire level of statement.

This matter has also caused great controversy on China's domestic network.
It will take some time to find out the truth of the matter. Now there is only Jiang Yanhong's testimony.

In China, the detention time of the police generally cannot exceed 10 days, and those suspected of serious crimes such as murder and drug trafficking cannot exceed 15 days. The “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” is generally a misdemeanor such as destroying public property, which is generally detained for 5 days.

Any vaccine has a certain probability of death, which is common to all covid vaccines. No country will agree to prosecute vaccine manufacturers. Kexing vaccine adopts mature traditional technology and is already the safest covid vaccine. I think Chinese govt will compensate the lady for some money and end the matter.

Chinese netizens did not question the vaccine. They questioned the reason why Henan police detained Jiang Yanhong in this matter. We are waiting for the police to release the law enforcement video.

China is a good country and can do no wrong.

IMO the leadership of China has always been consistent.
They have kept reminding their officials and people on the importance of Rule of Law.

As long as one do not break any law, what is there to fear?

However like all system, it can falls short due to the actions of some individuals that are simply different and like to challenge the authorities and failed to comply.

So who do you or can you blame?

In a way he is right. The Chinese are used to the idea that the government must be responsible for everything. And in most Chinese people's minds I can do anything with impunity as long as I have some demands, including attacking the police, disrupting government departments, and blocking traffic.

Of course, I do not support the detention of the mother. From the legal point of view, the mother disturbed the public order in the health department and the police could of course detain her. But she is a mother who has lost her daughter and needs counseling and legal services more than detention.

Since the Chinese government wants to be a bigger government, it should have more humanization and responsibility than a small government. So just because the process is right doesn't mean the government is doing right.
