Erdogan miscalculated. I'm glad he was able to not let his ego fet in the way of pragmatism. The benefit of keeping the man in jail vs the cost the Turkish people seemed not high enough.

In the short term, the Turks have paid both economically and politically. However, i wonder what the long term affects of this episode would be on the Turkish view of the US and the West.
