"The tiny nation of Singapore now has the most powerful passport in the world.

According to the Passport Index, which tabulates the number of countries that holders of passports can enter either visa-free or by gaining a visa on arrival, holders of the Asian city-state's travel documents can cross borders most smoothly. The No. 1 spot comes after a recent decision by Paraguay to remove visa requirements for those carrying Singapore's passport, meaning 159 countries can now be easily visited."

The top 10

1. Singapore: 159
2. Germany: 158
3. Sweden, South Korea: 157
4. Denmark, Finland, Italy, France, Spain, Norway, Japan, United Kingdom: 156
5. Luxembourg, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal: 155

Australia at no 7 which is awesome, wonder why countries like India, China, Pakistan are at the bottom.

.
the general rule is that wealthier countries with wealthier tourists are much more likely to get visa on arrival compared to poor countries that may be a source of illegal immigration

Certainly at first glance this seems logical. However after looking at the placement of some poor African countries in the list there may be more to it. More likely based on being from an undeveloped country with a high population.

Some passport acceptance numbers:

Germany: 158
Italy, UK, France: 156

USA: 154 3rd most populated country in the World

Brazil: 144 5th most populated country in the World
Mexico: 132 10th most populated country in the World
Taiwan: 120
Russia: 108 9th most populated country in the World

Botswana: 72
Swaziland: 69
Kenya 68
Malawi: 68 <-This is the 4th poorest country in Africa!
Gambia: 66
Zambia: 63
Indonesia: 63 4th most populated country in the World
Zimbabwe: 62
Uganda: 61
Philippines: 61
Sierra Leone: 60

China: 60 1st most populated country in the World
India: 51 2nd most populated country in the World
Pakistan: 26 6th most populated country in the World

how is the power of a passport being valued?

what is purpose of traveling?

for scene seeing?
to meet with different people?
to experience different cultures?
to get business opportunity?
.....

every visit to any country will get a same equal value?

so how is the power of a visit being calculated?
one visa to China has a same "power" of one visa to tiny ten thousand people Island State in Pacific?
this kind of ranking is ridiculous

I would assume an island in the Pacific would not be discriminating against any particular country unless they fought a war with it. So it would probably be an equal opportunity discriminator. So they'd probably would require all countries in Africa to get a Visa vs singling out Malawi.
