Most killed in drone strikes are militants : GOC 7 Div

Civilian casualties occur in huge numbers and those who survive these drone strikes or have there loved ones killed ultimately join forces with the militants to avenge the blood of there loved ones , so the drone strikes are pretty much counter-productive as they kill less militants but produce double more of them ... !!!

Pakistan denies U.S. bid to widen drone-strike zones

I hope it is true.

We all know he number of innocent civilians killied.
And it is a huge number too.

If that number is less than the number of militants, that I think there might be some truth in it.

I am rather thinking that this is a cover up, due to the hic cups between the Pak-US relations.

nobody is denying the death of civilians, but the report says mos of the death were the terrorists. If you are concerned about the death of civilians, you need to condemn the taliban and al qaeda for hiding among the innocent people and making them a military target.

America has to remain answerable for the many times it has gotten it wrong. But instead when the case opened against Johnathan Banks they flew him out. The answer that "Well its your bad luck that your 4 year old had to die, we had good intentions" is not enough to evade trial. We have heard nothing about a court martial of Johnathan Banks for killing 5 children. Or for that matter, anybody at all.

Who here would make the Abrahamic sacrifice of their own child if it meant killing all the terrorists in the world? Just one kid. So why allow this constant travesty, for what I think are at least a hundred kids.

This is cunning and coward policy of terrorist to hide in civilian and control suicide attacks from their through sending brain washed taliban. One thing is confirmed that these civilians must be relatives of terrorist or very close supporter else they can't live in them because of spying panic. terrorist are also exploiting the civilian casualties to get public sympathy and more emotion against with US.and PA.Now PA. should announced the operation in these area after civilian elimination like Sawat. Their is no thought left after finding presence of terrorist in the drone attack area.

So,
FATA people are scared by the strikes. That is understandable. But the hysteria surrounding these strikes has been hugely counterproductive to the need to rid Pakistan of the very people these drone strikes kill. Would that the Pakistani "establishment" felt that it could have an honest discourse about the drones with the Pakistani people.

The thing is that might be True...........But American's don't have right to voilate our Borders.....and attack in our country......
US must give the Drones to Pakistan..So the Pakistan military will use them........
You have seen the experience how Pakistan Military cleaned sweap the SWAT area from terrorist......This is major acheivement.....Where US and Other nations are still struggling in Afghanistan.....even they called themself Superpower.

Well the thing is US targets and Pakistani targets, don't always overlap...Pakistan tends to protect its strategic assets..which might be against US interests.

And if Pakistan wants, eliminate a target..it is pakistani territory ..they can obviously have boots on ground or call in an airstrike.

And you think US is doing the air strikes all on its own ??

Well had it been doing that, then it would have been doing the blunders of bombings wedding processions etc etc, but since it is not doing that, then it can very well be said that their accuracy is due to someone who is reporting to them with accurate data.

Do remember, eliminating AQ & its other foreign allied representatives is Pakistan's goal too, but yeah we may be in conflict with the US with regards to Afghan Taliban, which is very obvious by looking at the anti-Pakistan stuff happening on the Afghan side.

And yeah, US had 500K troops in Iraq, but it was still using drones for air strikes, thus even with boots you can't cover each and every corner of the area, thus drones are good at looking into those areas where there are no boots and hunting the militants.

wait, first im being told by pakistan military that these strikes have no involvement with them.

now they are telling me that they have an extensive, on-the-ground, verifiable and detailed breakdown of all the causalities of these strikes.

wait a second, let me look outside my window to see if any pigs are flying.

getting involved and having a break up of the casualties is something totally different.

There is a bomb blast and the militants know how they did it and where they did the blast, but we are more clear about how many casualties happened, how many injured and to what extend, thus similarly, the US may be doing the air strikes, but since we have informers on the ground, security forces in the area and since the air strike affects us, thus we do need to know who it is killing and how much effective they are.

So kindly, don't mix up two totally different things.

I hope, there are no pigs flying out of your window.

Well if US is doing all its drone strikes with Pakistan's help..then this arrangement work out perfectly, as no side has absolute sovereignty on this issue..and require each other's assistance to take out their targets.

Giving Pakistan drones, will tilt this balance as it will no longer require US assistance and US won't be welcome anymore in Pakistani airspace anymore to pursue its targets.

Only a week ago US killed 9 children collecting firewood over the border.

Am i really suppose to believe that they will be "precise" in their bombing campaign of a region that is virtually a media black out?

Well its not working perfectly, as US is getting what it wants, our targets are not being hit, but soon we would be able to hit our own targets too.

Pakistan admits majority killed in drone strikes are terrorists

Pakistan army has admitted that most of those killed in the CIA-operated drone strikes in northwest Pakistan were "hardcore al-Qaida and Taliban terrorists" notwithstanding the government's public posture that such attacks were causing civilian deaths.

In a rare public briefing on the attacks by pilotless aircraft in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, the Pakistan Army a fairly large number of those killed were of foreign origin including Arabs and Uzbeks.

Maj Gen Ghayur Mehmood, General Officer Commanding of the 7 Division, presented the Pakistan Army's official version of the US drone attacks for the first time during a briefing held at Miranshah, the main town of the restive North Waziristan tribal region, yesterday.

"Myths and rumours about US Predator strikes and the casualty figures are many, but it's a reality that many of those being killed in these strikes are hardcore elements, a sizeable number of them foreigners," Mehmood was quoted as saying by Dawn newspaper.

"Yes, there are a few civilian casualties in such precision strikes but a majority of those eliminated are terrorists, including foreign terrorist elements."

An official paper on the drone attacks conducted till Monday said over 964 terrorists had been killed in about 164 missile strikes carried out during 2007-2011.

Those killed included 793 local tribesmen and 171 foreigners, including Arabs, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Chechens, Filipinos and Moroccans.

While in 2007, only a single militant was killed in the drone strike, the figures have zoomed to more than 423 terrorists in 2010, which marked the deadliest period.

In 2008, 23 drone strikes killed 152 militants, of whom 12 were foreigners or affiliated with al-Qaida.

In 2009, around 20 drone strikes killed 179 militants, including 20 foreigners, and in the following year, 423 militants, including 133 foreigners, were killed in 103 strikes.

In attacks till March 7 this year, 39 militants, including five foreigners, were killed.
