First of all, there is no "Best movie" award. The most prized Academy Award is called "Best Picture", then "Best Cinematography", "Best Director"... etc. Yes the Hurt Locker won big including the "Best Picture", a big slap in James Cameron's face that is.

Christian Bale chose the wrong film to break into Chinese movie market (the third biggest in the world after the US and Japan). He made a bad choice.

Now our movie market is the second largest after the US market, and bigger than the Japanese market.

I think its on Nanking massacre. It bears a great importance in chinese history and one of the most heinous crimes were done in this time by Japanese soldiers.

There's a well known line there for media in general. You can critisize government policy or mock them as much as you want, but you cannot say the government is not legal since it is not voted. Nor can you promote overthrowing government. If you read Chinese internet, the mocking of government is much more intense than that in the US. But if you cross the line, especially paid by foreign governement/NGO etc, you may get invited by police for a cup of tea. A lot of people say that in China you cannot say bad things about government otherwise you dissapear, that is very untrue.

On Internet you can mock aything with virtual fake identities. But in contrast in movies you can hide urself. And what do you mean by CUP OF TEA by police.?

You have freedom to make movies about love, martial arts, action, and so on with private money, but not on political subject. The communist party sponsors movies that promote their ideology by providing the funding.

You cannot challenge the legitimacy of the CCP, the communist rule, and the communist party leaders like Mao, Deng, and Zhang under any circumstance, directly or implied. You can make fun of KMT people however.

Nope. You are banned from making movies for life if the CCP doesn't like your movie's message for any reason. It doesn't have to be an obvious message, even a small hint is enough for a life time ban.
