Most Advanced Observation Satellite Launched

Here we go again.
Every time India makes a claim like that it is good to double check.
First of all I am not a rocket scientist but even I know that you cannot make a comparison just based on resolution. You must also check out the swath. The swath is the area of the image. You can always increased your resolution by compromising the swath. But when your swath becomes too small it become useless in many applications.

Here is the swath data for Indian Cartosat series of remote sensing satellites.

As you can see Cartosat-2 has a swath of only 9.6km.
By comparison Gao Fen 2 to be launch with the same resolution have a swath of 48km which is 5X larger.
India’s latest CARTOSAT-3 to be launch may have a resolution of 30 cm but with an even smaller 6 km swath.
India is basically compromising swath to get higher resolution.

GF-2 employs the CS-L3000A bus and is capable of producing images with a ground sampling distance of 80 centimeters in black and white, and 3.2 meters in color. Its images have a swath width of 48 kilometers.

Just read the article. It is not me who states this. It is said by prominent chinese scientist.

Gaofen-2 is more advanced than ANY Indian commercial remote sensing satellite. We don't know the spy satellite capabilities since its secret. So we can only compare commercial satellites.

The most advanced Indian remote sensing commercial satellite is Cartosat-2B, so lets compare it with Gaofen-2. I'll even add the specs for Resourcesat-2.

Gaofen-2 (China):
Panchromatic resolution (black & white): 80cm
Multispectral resolution (colour): 3.2m
Swath width: 48km
Revisit time: < 4 days

Cartosat-2B (India):
Panchromatic resolution (black & white): < 1m
Multispectral resolution (colour): no colour resolution
Swath width: 9.6km
Revisit time: 4 days

Resourcesat-2 (India):
Panchromatic resolution (black & white): 5.8m
Multispectral resolution (colour): 23.5
Swath width: 70km (black & white), 141km (colour)
Revisit time: 5 days

It's pretty clear to everyone that China has the more advanced commercial remote sensing satellite :coffee:

Do not be idiot and do not compare compare the satellite which were not intended for resolution. Resource-sat was for resource mapping such as under ground water fisheries identification objectionable dugs plantation etc. TES launched in 2001 was even a better satellite than your just launched satellite. You are 13 years behind as rightly pointed our by none other than Read what chinese scientist Zhou say :
He said the current Chinese optical imaging satellites have a performance equal to the French Spot 5, India’s IRS-P5 and Japan’s ALOS.

“Five or 10 years ago a lot of people said our satellites were no good,” Zhou said. “Even giving the data away for free they did not attract many users. But the government has changed its previous focus from manned space to applications.”

China is atleast 2 generations behind India, Japan and france in satellite imagery.

 I don't care what he said or she said. I care what's already up in the sky. Many websites quote different people that talk down something to get more money or have an agenda.

Lets talk about what's already in the sky.

Bottom line is Gaofen-2 is superior to any Indian remote sensing satellite in black & white resolution, colour resolution, swath width and revisit time.

India's most advanced Cartosat-2B don't even have colour resolution  with a truly pathetic 9.6km swath

China is superior to India in remote sensing satellites.
End of story.

I don't care what he said or she said.

I know you wont care what your prominent scientist say. A class of people can not hail the opinion of their own scientist since it is a hurdle to their rant. This class of people is called ******.

India is 2 generation ahead of china as said by Chinese scientist Mr. Zhou.

Beginning of the story.

Your cartosat-2B is beyond a joke compared to our gaofen-2.

Atleast get some colour resolution
oh yea, try to increase the swath width if ya can

Your scientist thinks otherwise. He says that images of chinese satellite is so bad that people are not ready to buy even at free of cost( Just like Chinese goods) Look what Mr Zhou says:

“Five or 10 years ago a lot of people said our satellites were no good,” Zhou said. “Even giving the data away for free they did not attract many users.

And now we have far surpassed Indian remote sensing satellites
Gaofen-2 > Cartosat-2B

Seriously, why is India so far behind China in satellite technology?
We are ahead in remote sensing satellites, we are ahead in navigation satellites, etc.

The moment Indian mission reaches mars, they know we are ahead of them.

The moment Indian mission reaches mars, they know we are ahead of them.

When you can do a mars mission without NASA help, then we will recognise it. But the 'Indian' mars mission is a NASA project using NASA technology, NASA expertise and NASA guidance. It's like the Brahmos missile, which is everything Russian technology and Russian built except the paint job is Indian

Even your moon mission was done by NASA and the M3 instrument by NASA rediscovered water. Soviet Union found water on the moon in 1976 during the Luna 24 mission. Both your moon mission and mars mission were NASA joint missions with NASA, they were not Indian missions

When you can catch up to China in:
1. remote sensing satellites
2. navigation satellites
3. put a man into space
4. do a spacewalk
5. build a space lab
6. do manual and automatic space docking
7. land a rover on the moon

Then you can claim you have matched China. Until you can send a human into space, India is decades behind China as a space power :coffee:

Just put "made in china" in that sentence.

Chinese missions are 95% Chinese using foreign help.
Indian missions are 99% foreign, using the Indian name.

Until India can catch up to China in the following, India is not even a rival to China in space achievements.
1. remote sensing satellites
2. navigation satellites
3. put a man into space
4. do a spacewalk
5. build a space lab
6. do manual and automatic space docking
7. land a rover on the moon

You can't even put a man into space for god's sakes and you claim to be a space power
Even Iran is ahead of India in manned space mission since they even sent a monkey into space.

India is not a space power, India is a space joke

so basically you are saying Indian's sats are money wasting face jobs to make them feel good? lol

Just read the article. It is not me who states this. It is said by prominent chinese scientist.
some Chinese 'professors' even say India will 'catch-up' with China in 2008/2009/2010/2011````and XYZ years```
your line of argument is based on sheer delusion and 0.8m of 'resolution' with 1km 'swath' :D
