If you know about vote bank politics then you might know why eastern states including my state odisha always neglected by center.

About Gorkhaland and ULFA, one is about a statehood and another is about dying terrorist organisation. First read about them and then comment.

How often do you interact with people of these regions? I do nearly on a weekly basis. My opinion about this issue is based on what I hear from the people from Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal, Tibetans and Bhutanese themselves.

Instead reading about these events that are taking place, I suggest you go right to the source and find out about their issues in first hand.

Every state has its own issues. Though I never got any chance interact with the people of NorthEast except some Tibetian refugees who sell their winter clothes in odisha.

May we know what did you just hear from them?

That they are often racially discriminated/ marginalized by other Indians . Seen as foreigners, Neglected by the central government, the local businessmen are out muscled by the mainlanders who are continually moving in on their land. Choosing not to integrate with the culture, Out numbering the natives in their own land ... shall I go on some more?

@hadoken is partially right. Indian Union has so far done a piss poor job of intgrating the seven sister states. Culturally (I hardly see North Easterners represented in cultural outlets).

Indians still treat North Easterners as foreigners.

We just have to work harder to be more inclusive.

A lot of the time, I think Indians are just being ignorant, not being maliciously racist.

Those who do not find the police officers comments racist should get a through mental and psychological check up. As far as the police officer is concerned, transfer her to Manipur for few years she will know how to trace criminals.

I would also like to know the police officers view on about Shikh criminals...with the turban and beard don't they look similar to her. And isn't it difficult to go to Punjab from Karnataka.

As far as NE is concerned, there are 3 direct trains from Bangalore and Yeshwantpur to Guwahati. With lack of basic knowledge about India how did she become a IPS. I have serious doubts on her credentials.

Those mainlanders are infact illegals who crossover the border fence to live in India. There was a violence between the natives and foreigners not so long ago in Assam.

In a way I will agree with Rupa D . To me, all Sikhs look the same with their turban and beards, all Muslims look the same with their skull caps and beards, all Hindu women look the same with their bindis on forehead and all Rabbis look the same when they wear their black hats and long beards..
