So I have a gem here

"Speaking at a programme on ‘Information Security Awareness’ organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), Roopa D, Superintendent of Police, CID (Cyber Crime), complained that banks do not properly verify the address and antecedents of a person before allowing him/her to open an account. It made difficult for police to trace such persons in case they were involved in crimes, she said.

“Sometimes such (bank) accounts are traced to the Northeast and our inspectors, with great difficulty, go to the Northeast… Manipur and Nagaland. First of all, it’s so difficult to go there, and there everybody looks alike (sic). You can’t make out who is who. Even if you have the suspect’s photo, you won’t be able to relate to him/her."

The IPS officer, not done being a racist idiot, goes on to insult Nigerians next.

"Even if such Nigerian nationals who operate the “fake” accounts were traced, Roopa claimed, police would not be able to take any action.

“There is a Nigerian Colony in Delhi and one in Haryana. In Bangalore, there is one in Kammanahalli. There everybody looks alike (sic)… in Delhi even if our inspectors go, they don’t get much cooperation and it is very unfortunate. But you know they are ‘hatta katta’ (burly). Inspectors are no much. It is a sad state of affairs but it is a reality,” Roopa added."

source: Northeast people look similar, how do we trace criminals, asks IPS officer

Now wonder India is considered as one of the most racist countries in the world, when even an IPS officer is moronic not only towards Nigerians, but towards fellow Indians as well.

I have also witnessed Indians making horrible comments by some Indian PDF members as well, towards Nigerians when there was a thread on it last time.

We can see this as racist but its true the Police is facing problems and he has just pointed out practical reasons for that. Now hes no politicians to understand deep nuances of his comments. Tough not admirable but we have to give him Benefit of doubt.

I dont think IPS officer commented with racist intent.

WOW!! He should get an eye check or something if everyone starts looking like clones to him....soo alike that you cant differentiate 1 from the other yet he wont accidentally call Aishwaria Rai as Kathrina Kaif, right?!

It's as she. Roopa D.

And yes, I do expect an IPS officer to be smart enough to come up with nuanced comments, especially in a media setting that can be subjected to scrutiny.

I she racist? No. Is she an idiot. Undoubtedly.

she is not racist .. but does not know how to get the point across without looking like stupid.. the standard of civil service has eroded.

.
There is nothing wrong in what the police officer said, after I am drunk even I look similar to me in the mirror.

nothing wrong in what she said ... and keep your sweeping generalizations aside.

Though it's also not acceptable but making comments against Nigerians is different from doing so against our own citizen of Manipur,Nagaland etc.
I suggest you visit the Nigerian forum called 'nairaland' and see for yourself how 'respectfully' they were talking about India and Indians regarding the same Goa incident.

Regarding the people of Manipur,Nagaland etc., I don't think, the Police officer was being intentionally racist, she was just trying to raise practical issues without realizing that it may sound racist.....

If you give me a picture of a chinese guy and line up 20 chinese men, I will have a lot of difficulty in matching the pic. But if I live in china for a few months I am sure I will get better at it, my eyes will pick up differences in facial features easily.
After a few years I will be able to tell different races or social status of people based on facial feature.

WOw how racist. Imagine the uproar if the cop said "All mainland Indians below the state of Punjab look the same  "

Its only racism when you are the victim. I dont blame the people of North East India for wanting out.

Well people from the North East India (7 sister states) do feel marginalized and neglected by the central government. Would you not agree with this? Why do you think movements like "Gurkha land" and "Assam liberation party" started in the first place?

If you know about vote bank politics then you might know why eastern states including my state odisha always neglected by center.

About Gorkhaland and ULFA, one is about a statehood and another is about dying terrorist organisation. First read about them and then comment.
