What's new

Morocco orders 24 Boeing AH-64E Apache helicopters

Helicopter losses are to be expected in a long-term conflict, particularly in target-chasing capacity.

Houthi receive much technical knowhow and supply of parts from Iran to create advanced weapons. This intervention have made it possible for Houthi to hold its ground against Saudi offensive for long-term.

Saudi have expensive toys but its army is not up to the task of toppling a regime yet. Saudi army needs to up its game, not the machine although manufacturer offer updates from time to time.

Apache class is as good as a helicopter can be in theory.

.
The Apache AH E Guardian will come with the unmanned manned teaming kits. Meaning that the copilot will be able to operate a MQ1 Predator drone from the gunship and get live feedback from its camera.

"The multi-billion dollar Moroccan deal for AH-64 Apaches also includes acquisition of manned-unmanned teaming kits (MUTKs) that will enable the gunship to collaborate with surveillance drones.

While Boeing only announced it scored a contract to provide 24 attack helicopters, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) last November green-lit a $4.25 billion Moroccan deal that included 39 manned-unmanned teaming air-to-air-to-ground kits.

The kit would allow an Apache pilot to control the operations and receive video feed of a nearby drone, making the Moroccan Apaches one of the deadliest outside the United States.

The Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) capability was first fielded in 2009. The Army’s primary MUM-T system consists of the Apache A-64D/E as the manned system, the MQ-1C Gray Eagle or RQ-7B Shadow as the unmanned aircraft system (UAS), the One System Remote Video Terminal (OSRVT), which transmits video and data, and the One System Ground Control Station (OSGCS) which allows soldiers to control UASs from the ground.

Nearly a decade ago, General Atomics received export licenses to sell an unarmed export version of the MQ-1 Predator to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and Morocco.

Morocco currently has four MQ-1 Predator remotely piloted aircraft in its inventory. The MQ-1C Gray Eagle, the drone that can be linked with AH-64 helicopter, was developed based on the Predator."

.
The new Apache E Guardian has 3 war modes depending on the mission:

- Ground Targeting Mode
- Air targeting Mode
- MTM Maritime Targeting Mod

In preparation for receiving AH-64E attack helicopters, the National Defense Administration has allocated, through its equipment budget (2022), financial allocations to rehabilitate the military airport located in the city of Khouribga

Morocco will be one of the first users of the latest Apache version 6.. with 36 Helicopters..

The Moroccan Apache will be equipped with the M-TADS/PNVS system, and this system gives capabilities that no other attack helicopter has.

The Eyes of the Apache

The nose of the Apache contains a special thermal imaging system and direct view optics, all of which help the pilot and co-pilot to obtain and engage multiple targets simultaneously in different environments.

M-TADS/PNVS
M-DSA provides the ability to identify targets faster and coordinate with ground forces on the ground, and its modular design reduces operating costs..

Only 18 Moroccan helicopters are equipped with LONGBOW FCR ..

Quickly and automatically searches for multiple targets, whether stationary or moving, on land, water, or in the air
Understand them in all weather ..

Target coordinates are automatically available to sensors and other weapons to confirm the target and quickly participate in its destruction ..

The target data is available digitally through a data modem for transmission in record time to other platforms and driving locations
An autonomous radar frequency interferometer provides fast and accurate identification of enemy forces and enemy air defense units.,
