More U.S. Airlifters for India; Helicopter Orders Imminent

Deals likely to be signed this year :

LUH - EC AS 550 Fennec
HLH - Hopefully Mi 26 T-2 (I am hopeful that it should be MI26 they are considered better)
HCH - Hopefully Apache Block 3 Almost done deal, initial 22 later expected to go up
Mi17 - Follow on order for 52

C130J - 4 to 6 more
C17 - 10
P8I - 4 more already cleared
A50 Phalcon - 2 more (I think already signed)

M777 ultra light howitzer
IN helicopter deal (Not enough info on tests but separate funds are allotted for them this year so its likely that one of them is signed this year may 16 MRH deal).

Basic trainer - Pilatus PC - 7MK2 (because of grounding of present trainers these trainers are urgent for IAF)
MMRCA - 126 (No.of won't be increased at this moment but deal is likely to be signed this year as offers are valid till dec only)
ATGM - (God knows what is happening here but if nothing has happened then a deal will be signed for Spike or Javelin)

Add if you guys remember some other deal which is likely to be signed this year....

My comments inline.

. . .
hi does anyone know why PC-7 was selected even though it is not the latest trainer from Pilatus????? why didn't we go for PC-21 instead?

Because the PC-7 is a basic trainer- what IAF where after and the PC-21 is an advanced trainer filling the same role as the BAE HAWK AJT in service with IAF- not wanted/needed.

The Pilatus PC-21 is a single-turboprop, low wing swept monoplane advanced trainer with a stepped tandem cockpit manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland

The Pilatus PC-7 Turbo Trainer is a low-wing tandem-seat training aircraft, manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. The aircraft is capable of all basic training functions including aerobatics, instrument, tactical and night flying. It has been selected by more than twenty air forces as their ab initio trainer. Since the aircraft's introduction in 1978 close to 500 have been sold, with the majority still in service. Over one million hours have been flown by PC-7s worldwide

It's a question of need and IAF NEEDED a BASIC trainer to replace HAL Deepaks in service.
