This is a Chinese problem, not a problem for any of their international trading partners. Yes, if you buy something online originating straight from China, without vetting the source, it might be fake, but lots of people want fake products.

I've bought some fake products from China on purpose. A 1/10 of the price, and the same quality. China is amazing.

China is building a new international train trading route, that is going to cement and increase their dominance on world trade. They can do this, because international quality control in China is very very good. The Chinese are very impressive indeed.

Of course not. China makes the highest quality exports on the planet, for the price they offer. No comparison. Why do you think China dominates the world in this respect? They are only getting better.

Indian culture is full of counterfeit goods and piracy. Pirated music and movies is all over India. It's part of their culture too. So I guess Indians are proud thieves like the Chinese as well?

Guess what? Every single country indulges in piracy. They even sell counterfeit goods all over the streets of NYC. But now with internet, every single country pirates content.

China just happens to be able to make some high quality physical products that are fakes. And they are actually fantastic. China is not doing anything any other country doesn't. They should be proud of being the world creator of goods.

The American music industry died, due to American piracy. Americans LOVE piracy and counterfeit goods.

More money is lost on content through American piracy than there is money lost by any other country through internet piracy. So Americans love fake products just as much as the Chinese.

Hence the part "seller". Alibaba is like Amazon or e-bay. It doesn't sell the product themselves, it is a platform for other sellers to sell their product. Oh, and also this "suspected counterfeits sold on its shopping platforms". I highly doubt your 40% is refer to Alibaba. There is, of course, the political side to it, there is a plenty of reasons American companies want Alibaba gone and I will leave it at that.

Don't know about Amazon, but E-bay do check (They have people checking listing all the time) if the Seller item is genuine. You cannot sell counterfeits item on e-bay period. If you do list a counterfeit item on e-bay, your listing will got taken down and your account would be closed.

I think the OP mean Alibaba did not encourage positive e-commerce by allowing counterfeit stuff be freely tradable.

I will buy a counterfeit leather wallets if it 60 % cheaper in price. Depend on on what kind of counterfeit you are buying, such as brand name clothes or shoes are waste of money to spend on, I will choose to buy a 10 US dollar knock off Nike instead of paying for 100 dollars for a pair of Nike. Brand name Nike are also making in China or in other Asian country, I be happy to pay 10 dollars for a knock off and save me 90 dollars.

Nike cost $200 bucks in Canada. The $10 knock off is most likely coming from the same factory, just not the with the same label
