Casualties may massively vary with the state of industrialization of the belligerents as well as the location and dynamics of a conflict.

My apologies if I was unclear; my post was centered mostly around Western Europe (the main players of WWI/II). And yes, the Bosnian genocide is but another example of a tragedy fueled by inter-cultural spite. If anything, the Bosnian genocide goes to show that foreign intervention is not ancillary to igniting conflicts with deep-rooted origins.

If you bother to check US/NATO forces are still deployed to keep the peace in Bosnia with elemants in Kosova also. This mulches your argument that US forces are not needed. They certainly are NOT in Balkans on holiday or for humping the local women, attractive as they are.
