Moqtada As Sader quits Iraqi politics and closes down his office

A source close to the Sadrist Movement leader Moqtada As Sader revealed that the latter decided to quit the political life and close down his office, ascribing that to the poor political situation and the actions of some members affiliated with the Movement; such as using weapons in good and bad times.

“Sadrist Movement leader Moqtada As Safer decided to resign from the Iraqi political life in all its aspects”, said the source in a statement to Alsumaria. It mentioned that “As Sader ascribed that to certain incidents that took place when members affiliated with the Movement used weapons without considering what’s righteous in addition to the Iraq blood shed by such acts”.

“As Sader is undergoing a phase of depression due to the current security situation and the politicians who refuse to raise their voices and defend people’s rights”, added the source who wished to remain anonymous. It pointed out that this decision was reinforced by closing down As Sader’s office as a complaint to the deteriorating security situation. These circumstances cost the oppressed Iraqi people numerous sacrifices”.

As Sader denied that other reason, to be announced in the future, also led As Sader to take such a decision.

I am certainly not an expert, but the movement that this man led is powerful and exercises influence through out the country, for reasons which are too long. It kept the current govt in place by having an alliance.

This party is also believed by many to be the extension of Iran by some. So, some say that Iran is shaking the govt to make them realize that Iran is not too happy with the Iraqi govt.

The point is that these people at least believe in elections and participate which Iraq needs. So, its worrying when important people who believe in democracy quit.

I believe he himself wants to continue religious studies, Sadrist movement party would just get a new leader.
