Mood of the Nation poll: Indians believe country's military can beat China's

.
It'll be interesting to see if there is a spike in the number of psychologists applying to visit India to study such a massive case of mass delusions, after COVID-19 is under control of-course.

Also an interesting destination for observers/students of how States can control the flow of information so well that they build a narrative so opposed to reality.

Concured. This is why I think that a grand narrative is necessary where the right winger terminology comes into play: i.e. we're the victim, we're the envied ones, they are evil or they have malintent, we must remain strong and ruthless and the subsequent dehumanization as well. This is prime data to see and confirm all theories of human behaviour.

Looks like percentage of idiots have been increased to 91% since Mr. Markanday made stats public

Before the German Invasion of Poland, Polish citizens (and even their generals) believed they could easily defeat the Wehrmacht. Even in 1962, most Indians, probably a greater degree than today, thought India would slap China in a conflict. And unsurprisingly they were shocked at the consequence ... so much so that Nehru died just two years later.

It seems that the propaganda machine that has been taking over much of their media has worked. It helps the power party in either case, in case they fail they're going to blame the old state of affairs and mentality of passivity rather than aggression and utilize the general feeling of defeat with further zeal and ride that wave to solidify their political power. I refer to the right wing media lobby there. At the same time this would also trigger a local arms race which would see other powers up the ante accordingly which would in result drive further fear into the local population which would attract further right wing power to creep lower.

I don't understand everyone's surprise. Suppose a similar poll is conducted in Pakistan and China. What percentage of Pakistanis would feel they can defeat India in a conventional war. Or the Chinese feel they can beat the US?

. . . .
Will this war include nuclear weapons? If so, can anyone emerge victorious, assuming either country is left standing?
A modern and much larger nuclear arsenal versus an early Cold War era arsenal with missiles & warheads two decades behind those of the North Koreans. Please tell me who you think will emerge victorious.
@waz can we give @rent4country an Indian origin flag?
Yes he is. I've already blocked him after numerous confrontations with this Indian RSS supporter claiming to be American. I suggest you do the same too.

The poll is about what the people believe and not if the results would match up. Your people thought that the Japanese could be easily and quickly defeated, that you would be successful against the Vietnamese. You believe you can win against us.

Citizens of most countries tend to be boisterous.

In today's reality, defeating a country (as in most countries) is not possible. Chinese cannot defeat India because the definition of defeating a country means removing its ruling power and having control in some manner. Sure you can go back and forth in grabbing a strip here and there, they can encroach on yours too, but that's not defeating each other.

Is it not true that China claims an Indian state? So, if India still holds it, who's been 'defeated' as per your definition?

It well could be a Pyrrhic victory. These weapons -- Cold War vintage or modern -- will make Hiroshima and Nagasaki look like firecrackers. I shudder at the thought of their usage. :(

Indian, bring your flag and stop hiding.

Whaaaat, LOL, what about my question made you so upset to think I was Indian? I was pointing out the obvious that citizens of almost every country believe in their countries victory.

A majority of Iranians think they defeat us. Iraqi's believed it, the Japanese believed it, Germany believed it, Russians and Chinese believe it.

I have question to all the cheerleaders of China here.why do you think China spends more on its internal security than it's defence budget.can you guys show one example from last 40 years when China has actually escalated when the opposition has stood it's ground . Let the opposition be even rebel groups when Chinese are posted there ,if you can find one then we will talk about countries .:-)
