Lol, its actually a Tamil song, famous one, by 2 of best ever south indian singers ever (yesudas and SPB).

@Joe Shearer @Chhatrapati @acetophenol

The movie its from (Thalapathi) loosely puts a modern context to the friendship between Duryodhana and Karna in the Mahabharat. (Maybe a deeper nuanced irony here given these particular 2 world leaders lol)

Lyrics in the OP video here go roughly like this:

What are (regular) bonds and ties? what if they come or what if they go? I am not the one who worries about these!

To show (real) affection, to show love, I have my friend, who will take care of me, I do not have any other here, other than him!

As long as I am alive, If my friend asks for even my breath, I will readily give it to him,

Let go of worries, reach for the heavens, With the melody and rhythm, We sing a song like nightingales

(Chorus): In the heart of the wild cuckoo, there is no lack of songs to sing!

=======

Like any language, lot of nuance and poetry is lost in translation unfortunately.

Oh! That song is one of my favorites. I was a die hard fan of Rajanikanth even now you can find Rajni fans in Kerala, mostly those 70s to 90s people in the golden age of Tamil and Malayalam movies.
This video is a recreation of that, Vijay Yesudas, and SPB Charan along with Yesudas and SPB

@RealNapster you might enjoy this one haha (I know you have seen some south indian films lol)

Song seems old. I started watching South Indian movies around 2012. Even yesterday I watched actor RAM's Ismart Shankar. I actually really like South Indian movies BGM music. Like this one, I have many others.
