Modi lashes out at Pak over fishermen issue

VERAVAL: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flayed Pakistan over fishermen's issue and urged the central government to take steps to resolve the issue.

"Indian fishermen are being persecuted in Pakistani jails. It is a serious matter and the Indian government will have to take steps to resolve this issue," Modi, who was here to attend Somnath Utsav-2014, said.

He highlighted the role of Sardar Patel in preservation of Somnath temple. Talking about Sardar Patel, Modi said, "Had there not been Sardar Patel, Somnath temple, too, would not have been here. Without him, we would have lost Junagadh and Hyderabad to Pakistan."

Modi said that aarti ritual at Somnath temple is regularly webcast for the benefit of lakhs of devotees living abroad. Modi described Junagadh and Somnath as tourism capitals of Gujarat.

Fishermen should be exempt from this Indo-Pak game . They are just trying to make a living . And i mean both India and Pakistan .

The point is fishermen cannot do that , most of them are uneducated but some policy of pointing borders from Pakistani/Indian coast guards should be there .

Teach them how to read GPS. Simple......

Indian fishermen violates at least three times more than Pakistani fishermen do, simply because they are more in numbers. India should take initiative to soften fishing rules.. none should be allowed to fish in other's territory but if somebody was found violating, he can be fined but allowed to return back, if this was the only violation done on this part. But this yelling howling and crying is not going to help India. If MODI is serious, rather Indian Government is serious, they must come up with a workable solution.
