Nope, not one of the X5s they are used as escort vehicles and to transport the SPG agents around. The ambulance they talk of is that Black Mercedes sprinter van you see in the PM's cavalcade:

It's a fully equipped ALS Ambulance and there are alway 2-3 doctors and 2-3 paramedics on board.

And what happens when our PM has to visit other states?? I am sure hes not carrying around all these cars to every state that he visits. Just curious...

The SPG transports the 760Lis for PM travel around India and foreign countries in specialised train carriages (within India) Indian Air Froce cargo aircraft (for foreign visits), where necessary they will also send their own Jammers and associated vehicles if the host state/nation does not have the adequate vehicles. In India you will almost never see an Indian PM not being transported in the 760Li. Local vehicles are provided by the local/state police of Nagpur/Maharashtra for the escort vehicles (instead of the X5s). The X5s of the SPG almost never leave the national capital of India.

The SPG transported 2 760Lis and 1 Tata Safari Jammer to Nepal via IAF cargo plane.All other escort vehicles belong to the Nepali police/govt and the SPG "borrowed" them. I presume the Nepali police/govt didn't have an adequate mobile Jammer available so the SPG had to bring their own.

I can see 6 BMW X5s, and one tata safari along with the BMW 7 series in cavalcade.

For Modi (and MMS on occasion before) the SPG now use 2 7 Series (760Li)- one for the PM, one as decoy in the cavalcade. In the pic of I-day rehearsals the lined up cavalcade you can only see 1 760Li because the other is out of shot.

PM Modi's BMW 7 Series 760 Li Security Edition car is considered to be the official car of the PM. One day before his visit to Gujarat this car along with the convoy was seen in Ahmadabad for the rehearsal. It is here since 16th september.

I can't talk for all the BMW's customers maybe they offer it free to some (German VVIPs perhaps) but most nations, and India certainly, pay full price for all these vehicles. As for marketing- they don't need it so much (not for the top end security vehicles, the nature of the products are so specialised that very few companies produce such vehicles and BMW's quality and performance speaks for itself- the professionals who make the buying calls know this and that is all that matters).

The mentioned security posts are the extreme exterior perimeter of 7 RCR (pretty much over looking it) for which the Delhi Police is responsible. The SPG are responsible for the security of 7 RCR itself but the gates and extreme outer perimeter is manned by the Delhi Police being the local law enforcement- just like the head of PM's cavalcade no matter where he is will be comprised of Delhi(/local when not in Delhi) and the inner convey made up of SPG vehicles.

It is similar to the US's uniformed Secret Service at the White house:

They are responsible for the very outer perimeter of the White house but beyond the fences and on the White house property itself the President's Secret Service detail (non-uniformed) division are responsible for security. Since the SPG has nothing like the uniformed Secret Service division the Delhi Police comes into play.

It makes little sense for an elite and (relatively) small unit like the SPG to be charged with outer perimeter security duties.

German tech all around. Even Obama's motorcade uses BMW 7 series while German Chancellor uses Audi.

Though i am not sure if BMW X5 would be a nice fit.....since it's not a full size SUV. Probably Land Cruiser or American SUVs can help. You can use those like crap, and they'll still work.

Albeit Modi is controversial and is definitely on the hit list of many anti hindu groups.
Manmohan Singh had his mouth sealed most of the time so for obvious reasons he had lesser number of enemies compared to Modi.And seriously most of 'em considered him a nincompoop. Oops!
He is a good human being but in a political arena one needs more gravitas.
