Sir i was knowing about it, but i was providing political connection how it works in India North block appointment.
Mr. Doval was also the chief, but he will never be considered for governor post because of his straight forward and open thinking. Same way hundred of other spy Chief who have retired will also be never considered.
But in my opinion Judiciary and Intelligence should be kept off from political post. As the name of governer are send to President by the incumbent government only.

Is it not how politics work? There can be no virgin in politics when it comes to appeasement or corruption.

Actually Sujatha Singh and Mr. Jayasankar were neck to neck at the time of appointment on seniority but Sujatha Singh father was Governor of some state so as always post goes to Sujatha Singh and Mr. Jayasanker went to Beijing (i think) as Ambassador.

I think you do not understand how institutions work in India , even if you are a day senior then you are the senior. She was chosen because she was the senior most not due to a political favor.

Anyone who has served for 33 years in the service is eligible for top post which is the foreign Secretary, there are quite a few who are eligible and out of this lot, it is the government which decides whether to go for seniority or merit or connections.
