Settling of boundary question with Bangladesh will make our border more secure, says Modi. “We stand at a moment of huge opportunity in our relationship with Bangladesh.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "I am deeply honoured to visit Bangladesh." "First Bangladesh visit a special moment for me," Mr. Modi added.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina said "There will be zero tolerance for terrorism and extremism." She also said : Land boundary agremeent a historic moment." Ms. Hasina said "Bangladesh to open a Mission in Guwahati."

Would be interested in seeing the details of this line of credit.

Instead of this,

It would be much better a 6 lane expressway between Dhaka, Chittagong and Kolkata be decided, and an electrified railway track between Chittagong and Calcutta.

Further, FTA should be negotiated.

That would cost say 5 billion dollars at least.

Not only would it enhance trade between BD and India but would
help tens of millions of BDshis with improved transport links.

This has been an historic visit. Now BD and India have officially NO PENDING ISSUES (neither land boundary nor sea). Only the Teesta issue (which will be solved in the nest year or two).

With a growing economy and a base of educated youth, I can foresee BD being one of the most important Muslim countries by 2030-35.

Also, being the bigger country I do believe India needs to do more in our relationship with BD.

Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala expressway would have been better and reduce time to reach NE

Would India allow BD companies to invest heavily in West Bengal?
Why not?

But question is why BD companies invest in WB, when Indian companies and foreign refusing to invest, because of

1) Long history of LEFT
2) Tata nano plant saga.

That are some good points.

With a working trade agreement that covers BD and West Bengal, I think there would be
interest by BD companies to invest.

With good transport links like your proposal, goods can even be manufactured in West Bengal
and be sold in both West Bengal and BD with ease - a huge market of 250 million people that will
prove hard for BD companies to ignore.

If India and West Bengal can guarantee a certain level of business ease, you will see many
BD companies rushing to set up plants in West Bengal.
