Modi accepts Nawaz’s invitation to visit Pakistan in 2016

It is not right for Modi to travel to Pakistan. He is the only leader whose life might be threatened in Pakistan due to his controversial past. You never know if another bodyguard of Salman Taseer wants to avenge for the massacre of his Muslim brothers in Gujarat.

He is not Vajpayee or Manmohan Singh, he is a controversial personality in Pakistan and if God forbid, anything happens, the situation might be beyond control for both nations

In many countries the government holds public hostage but it seems in India the hardline Hindu public is holding Modi hostage refraining him from making any step towards a civilized solution to problems between the two countries.

Believe me nobody can hold Modi hostage, he is well aware of public sentiments and is strong enough to swim against the current when situation demands.

The question here is not about Modi but Nawaz Shariff. The latest incidents on the border including sniping of Indian soldier sends a message far louder than one which NS could have given Modi. Certainly it's not foolish to wonder if all powers in Pakistan really do want peace with India or its just the civilian govt.

In India civilian govt is in de-facto control of all aspects but its not so the case in Pakistan. Everything will depend on whether NS has a mandate from defense establishment to pursue a pro-peace agenda and escalations on the border say otherwise.

-Peace

That is what democracy is all about..... (by the way i edited some part of your post)

You can not edit my post and then attribute it to me, it is against the rules and ethics.

It is not democracy but it is extremist mindset of Indian majority against Pakistan nurtured by Indian media

But then it is not only Indians which is against this talk, a quick browse thru this thread will give you an idea what is happening to your countrymen.....

majority of us have welcomed this move despite the fact that we do not trust Nawaz hen it comes to India

It is a major issue but I am sure security agencies will be taking all aspects into consideration and take cautionary steps like establishing a inner security ring of SPG and NSG. We can learn a lot from the strong steps which american agencies too when Obama visited India.

so according to you "darinder moodee" has suddenlli become "pios & peace loving" :o:

The most foolish thing is the thinking that if routine exchange of fire at LoC is for halting these talks or meeting on part of Pakistan.

The matter of fact is that India can benefit more if there is a military government in Pakistan since it wants a peaceful border with India so we can focus on our eastern front.

the escalation is always from both sides . Pakistan cannot be blamed for it alone

Point taken. Reports said it was a sniper fire which is always a order from above.

If this death was due to routine fire or a stray bullet then I agree with your response. Will have to wait for official confirmation

You are right for the most part. Parts of the Indian media have begun to get hysterical about every matter, including adopting an unbalanced hyper-nationalistic stance when it comes to foreign policy. Those parts of the media are on a power trip, they think they've become more powerful than the political class, and are just as hysterical when reporting on domestic issues. While they are popular now, i hope public fatigue will set in with this kind of journalism.

In the meanwhile, Modi represents a good opportunity for India-Pakistan relations because he is strong willed enough to take on the media and opposition. If there's a good deal to be had (and I think from India's position a good deal will be to formalise the current status quo on the border and water sharing issues, if we get action and assurances on terrorism) Modi will take it. Early in Modi's second term might be a good opportunity for this to materialise.

The Nawaz-Modi meeting came in the backdrop of tensions between the two neighbours that had emerged after a series of controversial statements issued by the Indian premier against Pakistan.

Modi had not only accused Pakistan of fuelling terrorism in India but also admitted that India had played a part in the break-up of Pakistan in 1971.

Okay, let's bet..What are the chances of Modi getting shot once he lands in Pakistan?:lol:

.
It is not right for Modi to travel to Pakistan. He is the only leader whose life might be threatened in Pakistan due to his controversial past. You never know if another bodyguard of Salman Taseer wants to avenge for the massacre of his Muslim brothers in Gujarat.

If there is any significant threat to his safety then the chances of a visit is more or less nil.... But i think both nations have enough experience is protecting its VVIP's........

.
Its for SAARC, Pak as a host has little to do with it, save for being unsafe as a venue for the Indian PM to travel.

My bet, the Modi might skip it for one reason or another as the talks will go nowhere as someone in Pak will again do something stupid to derail any positive measures.

Most importantly, such measures are meaningless till Pak is controlled by a military and security establishment that survives due to their anti-India stance.

.
pakistan gets to sell a story to it's masses.
What story? That a Chaie wala is coming to Pakistan to attend Sarc, we already know that. Besides that there really isnt anything to be told. Don't confuse Pakistani masses with Indian masses who will buy anything their media and 56inch chest Modi throws at them.
