Actually once the results are declared, which is bound to happen sooner or later (MoD is not bound to abide by the deadlines people post on their blogs) all these Pakistanis and chinis taking cheap shots will disappear.

Right now they are in the laugh at you phase, when the results will be declared, they will come with speculative planes to counter MMRCA and when MMRCA will start joining IAF they'll run away with their faces covered.

I have feeling that sudden bust about Indian slowing down of economy had a purpose.. Indian Economy has been slowing down since months but they only announced it in the last few weeks. I can understand reason behind hiding it but I wonder if this sudden "revelation" had some thoughtful purpose?

Also can somebody tell me if $17 Billions of budget for MMRCA has been approved or not? If money has been allocated, then there is less chance that this may reverse and Rafale might get the contract. However if only a request has been made and money is yet to be sanctioned, then you can say Mig-35 and F-18s would get into picture again.

Once one get attached with USA, somehow, its quite hard to get rid of them. (experienced statement from Neighbourhood)

USA has offered, not just one but three jets for MMRCA including a Stealth fighter, even lowered the price of newly born most expensive F-35 JUST FOR INDIA. That means, their dead economy desperately want your money. So they will use no matter what options are available, to get those 10-12 bns. USA see her interest only and you ppl are quite attached to them since 5-10 years. They will use their political card here for sure.
and you people unwillingly, might see a stringed aircraft in your inventory. Just like Australia and Japan unwillingly they have opted for F-35.
Personally i dont see any kind of economical backdrop causing cancellation of MMRCA (European Fighters) but rising influence of USA in India.

India definitely has the money and the need for this deal, that is unquestionable. 15-17 billion dollars spread out over a few years is not much of a deal for Indian defence needs. But this MADNESS of issuing new deadlines every few weeks has got to stop. I can't blame pakistanis or others for making fun of us for that. Either decide quickly or take your time, but for heaven's sake, stop issuing new deadlines.

Anyone remember the old story of a donkey placed between two exactly similar looking heaps of hay, and couldn't decide which one to start eating because they were both the same, and eventually starved to death? I read that in a Russian book about symmetry. The MoD seems to be in that position now.
