The finance minister will present the budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 in the parliament on June 1. In the outline of the budget given to the Prime Minister by the Finance Minister, he said that the size of the budget is Tk 5 lakh 60 thousand crore.

The Ministry of Defense is in the second place in terms of allocation. In the next budget, the Ministry of Defense will get Tk 34,817 crore which amount 4.11 billion in US dollar. The allocation for the military sector is increasing by Tk 4,000 crore than previous FY 2019-2020.

The total budget is going to be 66 billion dollar. So this 4.11 billion defence spending translate to just 6.2 percent of total budget and mere 1.2 percent of GDP.
I reckon it should be atleast 2 percent of the GDP but this year can get a pass because of corona
Apparently it’s the second highest allocation in next years budget, and they might increase this fiscal allocations

Great!

Where the MRCA at?

Yes, given the threat perception we need to raise our defence spending at 2.5 percent of our GDP. Currently India is spending 2.1 percent of GDP(62 billion dollar) on defence. Bangladesh economy is 1/9th the size of India but our defence budget is 1/15th of them. This shows how little we are spending on defence. Bangladesh has 1/8th the population of India. In ideal condition, Bangladeshi economy should be 1/7th of India and our defence budget 1/6th of them. One-sixth of defence budget compared to India I think is minimum if we want to achieve credible deterrence against India(taking into account of their military obligation towards China and Pakistan). If we can achieve credible deterrence against India then Myanmar would be no problem.

We should focus to this goal. To achieve this we need to increase our per capita income 15 percent higher than India(currently 15 percent less) and raise our defence spending 16 percent higher as a percentage of GDP compared to India(2.5% vs 2.1%). Both of this goal is very much achievable within 10 years. Spending 2.5 percent of GDP is very normal and sustainable for any developing country without diverting resource from development priorities. Central point is, we have to increase our tax collection, which is now at atrocious level, perhaps among the bottom 10 countries in the world. This must to change if we want rapid economic development and a strong armed forces.

Don't worry more F-7BGI coming soon! :p:
Rather BAF should revive those 12 Mig-21 gifted by USSR in 1973 from BAF museum and make them flyworthy if they really think about buying more of F-7BGI. This time even China would be unable to relaunch the production facilities to built F-7BGI. Last time that was 10 years ago, China revived their production facilities just to supply BAF those plane. BAF is running those so called stopgap plane for 10 years without anything adding so far! Perhaps with this rate, few years later, BAF will seek 'stopgap of stopgap' plane. That would be the most glorious day for BAF!

I was serious about Globaleye.

Would be great for monitoring air, land AND sea.

Couple with 1 or 2 squadrons of a Western fighter and BAF is set.

. . . .
You can't use these to offer ride share services to UN.
BAF has no use for them.

Our civilain ATCs can simply ask foreign fighters for ADC numbers for our FB generals to chest thump about and declare victory.
UN isn’t paying up much nowadays.. so the reduction in service of those

I believe Pakistan has the SAAB 'ERI eye' based on SAAB 340 propliner - not Global eye (they also have some marine patrol platforms based on larger propeller commuter platform (Airbus?). These GlobalEye are not super expensive platforms, based on existing business jet platforms (Bombardier).

Yea its all about the radar.

Pakistan uses the Saab 2000 as their platform.

The Bombardier might be overkill for the geographically small BD but whatever the vehicle, the radar is what
I want.

It would really enhance capabilities for monitoring the EEZ as well as over BD proper, I would think.

And couple it with 2 squadrons of a Western sourced fighter and what else does BAF really need at this point?

An excellent tip of the spear.
