MiG-35 equal to U.S. F-35: Russia

The MiG-35 will be detected and destroyed before the pilot ever sees the F-35 that kills it. This is simple truth based upon RCS and AA missile lethality.

A better comparison is MiG-35 vs. F/A-18.

MiG is simply desperate to make $$ as Sukhoi ov er the last decade or two has dominated Russian fighter design. MiG used to lead... they now trail Su in terms of design and performance. Kind of like the rise and fall of McDonnell-Douglas vs. Lockheed.

The F-18 is however slower, less maneuverable and shorter ranged than the Mig-35, by a very large margin. Wouldn't you say its more comparable to the F-15C?

The F-15 and F-18 are of different categories. F-15 is the same class as the SU-27 or the SU-30. Comparing the MiG-35 to the F-18 Super Hornet is fair though. The Super Hornet is more advanced than the ordinary Hornet.

The title of the thread is kinda misleading though

and which plane will complement the pakfa ? as far as I know the single engine stealth plane from russia is still in development and not yet decided if it is going to be a reality .. so ....

The F-15 and F-18 are of different categories. F-15 is the same class as the SU-27 or the SU-30. Comparing the MiG-35 to the F-18 Super Hornet is fair though. The Super Hornet is more advanced than the ordinary Hornet.

Yup. Both the F-18 and MIG 29 are at the heavy end of the "Medium" class of fighters while the F-15s and Flankers are heavy fighters.

Few days ago Mikhail-Pogosyan came up with a statement that jf 17 is extrmenly close to jf 17

People have GOT to get out of this mindset that maneuverability is most important... it has to be at least half-way down on a list of critical performance parameters for a new fighter. Remember, a Pitts Special Biplane can easily out-turn even an F-22. That doesn't make it a fighter.

It is supposed to carry more fuel in the dorsal area and new fabrication techniques allowed for more fuel to be carried internally.

The point is not how good the MiG is, it is rather what kind of lighter than the T-50 plane can the russians use ...since they have nothing in the pipeline for now, the MiG is as good as it gets --for now
