An Indian Air Force MiG-29 crashed on the outskirts of Droly Khurd village in the district this afternoon, police sources in Jalandhar said.

There was no loss of life as the fighter plane crashed in the open field and the pilot ejected safely.

Senior IAF officers from the IAF Adampur base rushed to the spot of the accident. The MiG which was on routine flight from Adampur developed a technical snag soon after take off.

The IAF has ordered an inquiry into the crash.

Do all the airforces have the insurance for their fighter jets

Its quite worth to have these days if .....

Really a sad end for such beautiful fighters.....and more sad if their are any casualities involves

Was the Mig-29 inducted in 1985 already??
I thought it came in the mid nineties dude.

I believe that 1 or 2 crashed last year.

While the aircraft was inducted in June 1985, the facilities in India for its repair/OH were completed only by 1996 and till then the repair arisings would continued to be sent to the manufacturers abroad for repair.

They are crashing cuz they havent gone thriugh a Mid-Life refit or upgradation. They will be send by soon for the SMT upgradation signed with Russia for $1 billion.

Well it says crash during emergency landing, so I would say crash. (couldn't find additional info) a emergency landing would not count as a air crash.

what i meant ask is, was the aircraft written off, or was it repaired and brought back in service.

Hmm I doubt that it would be the case.
The IAF would probably have reduced flying hours in that event.
