MiG 21 crashes in Rajasthan.Pilot Safe.

It seems nowadays that if they crash the pious usually survive. It seems even the pilots can't be bothered to risk their lives to save this junk and eject earlier instead of trying until the end to save the plane (unlikely, IAF pilots are true professionals) or the IAF command has decided to give the MoD/GoI a "nudge" to induct the MMRCA faster. Jokes aside this is getting beyond a joke, interesting it comes on same day as DAC meet on MMRCA but I doubt these guys would batter an eyelid.

. .
We need to gracefully retire them before they actually get verbally abused by everyone and the our Idiotic media's stupid name comes true!
Time to place the Harriers and MiG21's in museums!!!

.
Frankly , The time of Mig21 is over
We should have retired them in 2007 , instead of waiting till 2017 to completely phase them out

It is Estimated that out of the 450 Mig21 acquired by India Between 1963-1984 over 200 have crashed , while another 70 were actually retired out Between 2007-2010
Another squadron ie No. 17th sqd is expected to retire in November , That will effectively leave India with a fleet of 152 Mig21s across 8 Sqds , and will mean that Number of Mig21 will fall below the Number of Su30MKI for the first Time as India operates 159 Su30MKI as of August 2011 across 8.5 Sqds
The 9th MKI sqd currently under Formation with 11 aircrafts as of August 2011 ,will get 7 more aircrafts by end of November , and will be officially commissioned

What i dont get is NAK Browne's ficsation with Having a minimum of 34 Sqds , i mean we can very well retire Remaining 2 Mig21Bis sqds comprising 32 aircrafts in total , and live with 32 Sqds for about a Yr , instead of waiting for Induction of 28 MKIs , which will take 1 more yr , to replace Mig21Bis

While we can phase out 120 odd Mig21 Bisons with simultaneous Induction of LCA and mmrca

And we just reached the part of "AND THE WINNER ISS.........".. WTF is wrong with MOD? Are they with the IAF or against the IAF?

Another one down... Roger that.... How embarrassing it is? and Our babus find no way to curb this issue?

I told you na.. get Rahul gandhi to fly it daily until it crashes. Then see how even X-fighters from STAR WARS come into IAF.

good pilot's safe and very good another bison eats the dust

i think this makes it IAF's 1,001 crash

:enjoy:

I don't understand why IAF MiG-21s go down at such an alarming rate. Many eastern European countries also operate old jets like the MiG-21 and SU-22 but they hardly crash. There is a severe shortage of jet trainers and also turbo prop trainers which I guess is causing problems. I think the spare parts being used are also of bad quality.

apart from poor training of HAL ground/tech crew, the boldened part of your post is actually the chief reason behind your migs21s falling out of the sky

I spoke to a rep at Rosoboronexport once --this was in 2008 in Istanbul at a defence expo. I asked him the same question you asked him; that why so many air forces (even Bangladesh) operate Mig-21 but only indian have such horrible attrition rates (and that too in peacetime with no hostiles in sight)

HAL has a policy of using inferior spare parts which are sitting on dusty shelves in Belarus, Ukraine and other former soviet union countries. They try to do cost-cutting, but instead lose the whole aircraft (and scores of pilots) instead

i hope it wouldnt be 'reckless' of me to say that I hope indian continue this cost-cutting policy of theirs...works out for us

we are already behind schedule.. Didnt you hear..?? This is the latest method followed by IAF to decommission an aircraft..

very creative way to decommission aircrafts....we mothball em, do a cermony, say 'thank u very much' and hang a few at flowered gardens and street corners and a few here and there in garrison towns and PAF museum.....you guys honour them by crashing them, and in many case killing pilots?

seems a bit mean and unfair no

this is no way to honour your pilots or your country

Zardai is the pilot and Pakistanis the bird.
