Of course they will - they take responsibility even when they don't do anything.
I have lost track of how many choppers Hekmetyar claims to have shot down and hundreds of US soldiers he claims to have killed in Afghanistan.
That said, there is always a possibility that the chopper did crash due to hostile fire. Not sure what the availability of SAM's to the militants is. The Taliban reportedly kept a few when they were in control in Afghanistan, but I would think that were they frequent in number or usable, they would have been used already in the last eight or so years, especially against ISAF.
Trying to take out the choppers with RPG's and AA guns seems to be the preferred option for the militants, going by some of the combat accounts released.
