Metro: If it was done correctly.

Why elevated Tracks of Metro??

Our cities are so ill planned except Islamabad and crowded with traffic that you can't run these buses easily. Elevated tracks limits the reach but due to elevation the buses will not get stuck in the traffic jams like other cars making it easy to travel and faster

For future as our population is still growing these elevated tracks can be converted in Metro Trains you don't need to rebuild everything and the numbers of cars on roads are also increasing means causing more jams which kills the main motive of making mass transit projects

About Limit of reaching well the plan was to make first make dedicated tracks/routes of which Metro Buses and trains will run on dedicated track in the main areas of the city and connected to places like markets colleges universities leisure points offices etc while other areas residential or normal roads will be covered by normal buses like SpeedO buses are running in Lahore which connects other routes with the one of Metro and takes and leaves people to the metro stations from those areas from where Metro doesn't passes

Here are the 2 route maps of Lahore first one is of dedicated Metro route like Orange Line Green Line Blue and Purple planned for the future while second picture is of speedO buses routes which are connected with main Metro Routes making it easy for the people to access Metros easily

While Metro Buses Runs on Elevated and at Grade dedicate tracks speedO buses runs on normal roads connected with Metro Stations and helps people to reach Metro Station

Same thing is being done in Peshawar BRT and already Operational in Multan and planned for Rawalpindi Islamabad

I would love to see Trams in Pakistan, at least in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore & Peshawar.
Traveling on them is a treat.

For the starters which I should have mentioned in OP. Pakistan should make a huge plan for metros in all cities with a population over 2 million and thus ask the bus manufactures to install the plant inside Pakistan with high degree of indigenisation i.e. +80% parts to produced locally. This will reduce the per unit cost. Make plans to adjust the existing road by expanding them instead of making expensive elevated tracks. Implement the law strictly and discipline people. Impose high congestion tax on all cars and motorbikes on the roads where metro shuttles in order to reduce the traffic congestion and encourage the use of public transport service / metro.

I kind of like them but hate the clutter of wires over the head. In Stockholm, there some trams but they don't create the clutter while in Zurich, the clutter is so much near the centre that you can't see the clear sky and no flattering street photographs can be taken or you have to remove them in post but that's kind of cheating.

Munich, Berlin, Prague, Barcelona, Paris, none have the clutter.

I don't disagree with high budget public transportation systems as long as they are part of an ecosystem.
All routes must meet: smaller or outlying areas connected to a bigger line or express line(local to express)
Centralization: there should be convergence for all forms of transportation in certain hubs.
Tiered: Local connecting to regional and that to mass transit.
For example all regional transit should connect with Train stations or Airports.
Only then a wholesome solution canbe created that will affect a favorable public opinion for mass transit.
Ofcourse, the very purpose of mass transit is that it should be accessible and it should be cheap. In U.S. it is counterintuitive and promotes car ownership. Habits take time to form and it requires ample incentives and grooming of next generation for the benefit of society at large. Incentivizing students, government officials/employees and private large corporations to take public transit instead of driving should be the base ridership and than population at large.

I know but if got implemented in Pakistan, it will come with clutter because we always opt for the obsolete tech but pay more than price of the latest thanks for the corruption builtin into the system.

Well, I'm not sure about the construction quality of these and how long will the survive. I remember in July 2018 rains, large chunks of roads vanished into huge craters. Furthermore, the amount and type load of a train is much different than that of a bus and if these tracks are not designed (which they are not) then definitely these are not suitable for trains and will be very dangerous to use for them.

among the Muslim countries, I think Indonesia is already doing that.
We should ask Japan and South Korea to help us with train and metroRail.

Not just Indonesia, Turkey is also making her own buses and metros and I think she is ahead of Indonesia in this respect and perhaps Malaysia so doing the same.
No, you don't need to ask for "help" to anyone. Just announce a project and launch international tenders and companies will come automatically...just make sure there's no corruption in the deal.

It’s a combination of 2.

Our cities are overcrowded because we have not planned new cities, not even that, we expended our major cities with our proper planning.

Lack of parks and playgrounds, Lack of water, no proper drainage system for sewage and rain water. 50% electricity is stolen in commercial and residential areas because there is no system to prevent theft.
thats better
