What's new

Mera Junoon - New PAF Song Teaser

The truth has been spoken.
Nothing against the old classics of a bygone era but now we need the kind of music that is popular both domestically and internationally such as metal, pro-rock etc. and also goes well with the footage of modern combat aircraft.
The lyrics should also be less direct. They should go for more subtle language, speak to themes and ideas instead of 'this is my land...' 'this is my sky...' 'my mom loves me...' type stuff.

. .
Coke Studio should do a season dedicated only to redoing all old national/military songs in 8D

. . . .
have you heard this song? Just saw it on PAF facebook page got good tune.
Yes, sadly my ears had endured the suffering (just once).

The incident was as forgetful as the lyrics.

But, I suppose difference of opinion is the reason why these type of bands have some following.

I think things change with time. The song you posted "Hawaa ka sipahi" is one of the classics from the early 80s along with "Har Gharhi tayyar Kamran" made for the Army. Both have very memorable lyrics that will never go out of fashion.

As such, to me what is important are the lyrics and poetry and then a catchy tune.

In the ones that came out in the 90's, nothing comes close to Alamgir's "Tum hi say aye mujahido" for the meaningful lyrics and the overall tone suitable for the youth of the 90s.

Vital Signs definitely did their part from time to time, but one of the recent ones that I have liked was "Shaheen-e-Pakistan" sung by Atif Aslam. That one has good, meaningful lyrics.

Some songs are complete and utter misses.

Aisay Hum Jeeyain was a classic. Don't lie.

I do think classical styles have their value, but if we're going to do it, then we should do it right.

If we want direct and heartful lyrics, then the music should align with it as well. I wouldn't want rock or a band jamming out to the song. Maybe a more symphonic approach (albeit with modern instruments).

If we want to fire up kids and youth, then I'd just tell Call, Fawad Khan, Goher, etc to come up with something they think they can deliver the best. In these cases, AHQ may not 100% like the lyrics or the style, but the song itself may be really good for the target audience or intended outcome.

Just as with all things, this isn't something we have to leave to hobby-level effort.
