Mention your tribal gods

@Gibbs Just in case you haven't yet realized, he's referring to Trincomalee.

Oh yeah i was bit confused.. Thanks mate

That's right.

The name Trincomalee is a corrupted form of Thirukkonamalai. This hill lies along the same longitude as Mount Kailasa, that is why it was also called Dakshina Kailasha. This was where the shakti peeth, the famed Shankari Devi temple was located.

But is'nt there a major Hindu shrine within the precincts of Fort Frederick ? I think the source is wrong this shrine is venerated both by Hindu's and Buddhists if i'm not mistaken it was not destroyed unless we're talking about some other shrine

I am aware of the significant loss of gravity around the Sri Lankan region

Sri Lanka is the lowest point of gravity on Earth.. No wonder some of us float two inches off the ground sometimes..

In 1689 a smaller temple was built nearby to house the idols that had survived in the procession. This Adi Konanayakkar temple still exists and so do the idols that escaped their fate on that fateful day.

No worship was allowed to take place at the ruins until the Britishers entered the country. People then often went to the rock and broke coconuts, sometimes throwing offerings into the sea below where it reached the underwater ruins.

The sea around the old temple site still has history strewn all around it.

In 1950, the ancient Konanayakar Utsavamoorthy made of Panchaloha, the idol of Ambal and Ganesha were discovered while digging for a well. 350 years after the destruction of the temple, the Lankans reinstalled the utsavar idols and in 1952 built a temple to Koneswarar at the spot near the ancient ruins.

A diving team which included the author Arthur C Clarke (of Space Odyssey fame) took some stunning photographs of the underwater ruins of the temple and retrieved the ancient Swayambhu Linga which was later installed in the temple.

I dont think they do.. Most consider it a myth/fantasy and promote Ramayana sites solely for tourist purposes to Indians.. Although recent times certain ultra nationalist fringe groups have emerged with this identity that the Sinhalese are descended from Ravana and not by North and East Indians as believed

Even then Ravan was a North Indian :P

Ravan is supposed to have been born in the village of Bisrakh, current day Uttar Pradesh. his grandfather was the sage Pulastya. One of the ten Prajapati of those age i.e Emperor.

WTF !!! ....... he was a brahmin by birth but a kshatriya by choice. A asura by karma.

He robed his brother kuber, kidnapped married women, spread anarchy and evil to satisfy his greed, killed and maimed citizens and ended up destroying his family and kingdom.

And this is the man you admire ?
