ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the Cabinet Committee on National Security (CCNS) chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is under way, DawnNews reported on Tuesday.

The meeting was announced shortly after terrorists attacked Karachi airport in an assault that left 29 dead.

The CCNS meeting is taking place at the PM House, with high profile government and military officials such as Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also in attendance.

The recent terrorist attacks on security forces and national installations which have been claimed by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan are under discussion.

The meeting is expected to bring forth recommendations related to anti-terrorism efforts.

Not really, They were and still are a potent enemy (only took a break for some months coz of "peace talks"). They have never been weakened, their ideology and support is still strong (probably got stronger over the years). They only thing the military has been successful is in making them shift around. Killing a few thousands of brainwashed kids wont cut it mate, their leadership should be targeted on constant basis in which the military has failed.

Right now, the govt does not have any sort of strategy at all. It is going with the flow

With Musharraf, you had all the control with the Army hence you saw ops. With PPP, they leased the counter terrorism policy to Army hence the ops.

Right now, those nihari eating construction workers are taking ownership of counter terrorism policy and shit but aren't doing anything tangible. Army gives them a kick up the backside and they wake up momentarily, then sleep again.

Due to these shenanigans, public support isn't also there on the level that we saw with Swat and other ops.

Army making a big mistake over & over again, what position Pakistan is in today it is because of cowardly decisions taken by these incompetent & corrupt politicians. What Gen. Raheel should had done was given a warning to the Govt. to fix security issues of all provinces, stop corruption & pay attention to peoples demand. Keep in mind these incompetent politicians are harming Pakistan in every possible way & they have no respect for Pak Army. Gen. Raheel is making a big mistake by supporting DEMOCRAZY & he is clearly following the foot print of Gen. Kayani who ruined everything & made life easy for corrupt & incompetent politicians by supporting them & by supporting corrupt DEMOCRAZY & not democracy.

Recognizing National Security threat is very important & Pakistan interests should come first, not politicians interests.
