there is an old saying in malayalam.
Mangayulla mavile alkar kalleriyu means Peoples always interested in throwing stones to frutifull mango tree .

Some so called human rights activitists regularly criticise Israel for their misdeeds but dont even care about IS actions.
Whole the world knows India achievements in last two decade and also its democracy but people especially foreigners always intetested in our shortfalls.

This is actually one of the major reasons for the failure of the Bihar sanitation project.

Toilets are there. But for that running water is needed. For water to come to the taps and the flush to work you need pumps. For pumps to work you need good electricity. And that's where Bihar fails.

Without proper and steady supply of electricity a hundreds toilets is as good as nothing.
It's not limited to Bihar only bro, this problem is there in almost every public toilet and especially the govt building.

LOL. Most govt. offices do not have budget even for such basic sanitation.
They have budget for everything, they just don't want to use the funds properly.

.
Nonsense. Such cases are RARE.

Nowadays no one wants to live in a slum. Their children go to schools and colleges and are ashamed to live in a slum with no running water and open sewage.

If given a chance everyone would want to live in a pucca house with a toilet in it and running water.
Not really. Dharavi has many such people. I don't blame them. Having grown up in difficult situation makes them stoic to their environment. Whats a slum to you and me, is Home sweet home for them. But for a successful building rehab project to work there needs to be smart building and also a stick and carrot policy. Without an incentive nothing will work.

The Government builds and forgets. It should earmark people who monitor if they are being used properly or not. Maintenance is crucial.

That's a misconception. I have seen some of their budgets and I know they are nowhere adequate. If you compare their admin budget with any private company the difference is startling.

What do you know of Dharavi ? Dharavi never had running water and sewage. Dharavi itself is located next to a HUGE swamp.

I have seen slum redevelopment projects and I know for a fact that the owners live there. Some of them work for me.

Every society has its own degrading times .Hundreds of years ago, perhaps Bihar was the most advanced place inthe world with a world famous university called Nalanda.

Exactly!! Bihar used to be one of the centre of Indian civilization and culture. Maghad was the leader for the longest time.

Just because they Invaders ruined them (both islamic and British) it does not mean they are bad in any way.

Bihar needs to kick the Nitish Lalu combine for good. A 20 year continuous development will be enough to put it back on track.

This video is indicative of everything that is wrong with the elite of India.

In India people do not have regular access to drinking water !!!! ...... Even in a city like Mumbai... and we are talking about running water to wash you shit down.

I have been purchasing Bisleri water for drinking and cooking for the past 5 years. How can the poor afford that ? They drink water with arsenic and heavy metals. Even cities like Hyderabad do not have access to regular pipe line water supply. Most of them still use ground water !! So does chennai.

If one looks at the condition of these govt built toilets in public places, no one would use them. One would be shitting and vomiting together. Building them is one thing but maintaining them is totally different.
So people prefer going outside rather than using these cr@p buckets.
In karnataka this problem is almost sorted by public private partnership and BOT (build operate transfer)..where a firm or person can build public toilet and operate it for 20 or so years and then transfer it to local body for next auction ..they charge for usage and toilets remain clean ..it was a one successful scheme..

It's about time Indian's got rid of their backward Hindu religion.

You people make me sick - i don't find this thread funny, neither the video cheeky like it's attempted. It's just sick and my mouth is filling up with vomit.

India just disgusts me. Every time I think of India, the first thing that comes to my mind is 'junglis'.

I am proud of my Muslim ancestors who rejected statue and animal worship and learned to live like human beings. It's about time the rest of the people in Bar-e-Saghir followed.
It seems its you who has to do thinking of coming back from yours adapted one ..alk indicators shows that possibility more than what you dream ..

And you still visit India specific threads to interact with Indians. :hitwall:

It's true, unfortunately.

I expect to read good threads about India simply because 1.2 billion people live in that one country. Its a big chunk of mankind and I wish all mankind to keep progressing and spread throughout the universe.

I don't find poverty be it in India or anywhere else in the world something to be laughed about, instead I see it as oppression. When it comes to India, it's the sheer size of it's poor population that shocks me every time.

What I find worse is how Indians like to ignore this issue and wish the world to recognise them as some sort of a rising superpower, makes me wonder whether any realists live in India. I rarely see even the Chinese people refer to their country as a superpower despite having the second largest economy in the world, but for some reason dirt poor Indians are just obsessed with this title.

???

You sure its only the Biharis? I always hear people blame everything on them....why are they so different as compared to the rest of you? What ticks in that mind of theirs?

they come from Bihar that is all. Bihar was under rule of laloo yadav for more than 15 years on and off from late 70s to late 90s. Patna was doing well economically before him but ever since he came to power looting started and development stopped. The number of houses that had toilets in India during 80s was around 5-10%. While the rest of India moved on Bihar stayed there and about 8-10% houses in Bihar havve toilets rest all shit in the open. thats like 130-140 million out of their 150 million people. Now when they come to cities what do you expect they would do? Of course they shit in any open space they find because it is natural for them.
