Maulana Fazlullah issues ultimatum to government

MINGORA: Tehrik-e-Taliban Swat chief Maulana Fazlullah has offered amnesty to all those political leaders and government functionaries who stop resistance to Taliban activities in the region.
The hardliner cleric, in his address on his private FM Radio from an undisclosed location in Swat on Wednesday morning, warned that those legislators, politicians, and other pro-military operation elements would be made glaring example for others.
He made it clear that those people who had earlier taken part in an anti-Taliban drive by the government but now prevent opposition to Taliban movement are also included in the general amnesty. But, he said, those still opposing their movement would not be spared at all costs and would be targeted wherever and when ever they get opportunity.
About Taliban excess with the general public, Maulana Fazlullah said inquiry would be made against Taliban on their complaints and action would be taken against them in accordance with Islamic Shariah laws.
He reiterated that their Jihad (holy war) would continue till enforcement of Islamic Shariah in the country.
He called upon the Taliban fighters to deal the general public with humble.
Meanwhile, a woman was killed and twenty three suspected militants including key commanders were arrested as security forces launched search operation in Guljabba area of Swat on Wednesday.
The security forces also targeted hideouts of suspected militants in Tootano Bandai with heavy weapons. However, there was no reported killing. The militants had attacked a security check post a couple of days ago and injured two security personnel.
The security forces launched search and cordoned operation in Guljabba area of tehsil Kabal early on Wednesday morning. The troops besieged the Guljabba village and arrested about twenty three suspected militants including important commanders in a house to house search. The troops did not face strong résistance from the militants and cleared the area of the suspected militants. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from their possession.
An ISPR release also confirmed the arrest of eighteen militants in the search operation.
