Massive earthquake in Pakistan

Iranian red crescent has voiced their complete readiness to get deployed to both pakistan and afghanistan.

Everything has been readied for deployment and they are awaiting Pakistani and Afghan government decision

Thank you to our brother Iran and the people of Iran.

The earth tectonic plates are still moving below the earth surface and the time between now to December will be crucial as the after shock tremors will be taking place frequently. People have to stay out of damaged buildings till they are deemed safe.

Condolences to all the victims and their relatives. Let us hope that this earthquake won't reach the heights of the devastating earthquake that occurred in 2005.

I firmly expect KSA, the GCC and numerous Arab countries to be heavily involved once again just like in 2005, when it comes to relief work and financial aid. They probably already are.

I wonder if improved local infrastructure could reduce casualties and what is done in Pakistan for instance to improve this area?

Looking towards Japan and the US would be a clever step. I have no idea if the Pakistani government has taken such steps. At the end of the day it's all about economics though but it should be possible to improve the infrastructure here and now.

Or longer we had 10,000 aftershocks of over4.0 in the three years post Christchurch, a major earthquake isnt over quickly or for the people who go through it, easily. That is why there are so many comments " we thought it was 2005 all over again" you dont forget.

My thoughts and prayers for all those suffering on both sides of the border.
