CLAIM: Video shows a large number of Indian students in Toronto Pearson International Airport on Sunday waiting to be deported after their International English Language Testing Systems exams were found to be fake.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The students in the video were not being deported, and the reason they were waiting at the airport had nothing to do with faked language exams.

THE FACTS: A spokeswoman with the Canada Border Services Agency confirmed to The Associated Press that the video, which began circulating online Sunday, shows students who had just arrived in the country waiting in an overflow area of Toronto’s international airport for study permit processing.

The video circulating on Twitter and Facebook with the false claim shows long lines of students with their luggage at the airport. At least one of the posts had received more than 100,000 views. The false claim was also shared by some media outlets in Bangladesh.
