To much Utopian

it does sound too utopian but it worked well in libya for 40 years... and the "green book" which contained the procedure for the libyan system had editions for ussr and germany and spanish to urge those societies to adopt the "third universal theory" defined in that book

the communist system in ussr and other eastern bloc societies were/are only partially communist... the "third universal theory" ( also called jamahiriya ) was further along the path to true democracy, true communism.

it is a very simple system, easily appliable to any human society... you will easily understand it easily if you read that link.

found this article : India is Suicide Capital: World Health Organisation (WHO)

not good, but then we're at a billion+ people, almost 1/5th of humanity.. we'll figure high on almost any statistical study

not necessarily... half of those suicides will be because of economic troubles and most of the remaining will be of cultural reasons... so farmer suicides, student suicides, jobnik suicides, family enforcing social wrongness on the victim etc.

since many years, bangalore was suicide capital of india and because of last year's declaration bangalore is technically world sucide capital.

the suicides are because of india's extremely capitalist and religious culture... if that is replaced, then the suicides will vanish too.

the intro para from that link...

and this from september last year ( India is Suicide Capital: World Health Organisation (WHO) ).
ah, sorry I'm juggling between a few tabs, just did a quick google.

unfortunately modern life and society brings with it pressure, expectations and shattered dreams.. any or all of them can be too much for some people to cope with some times. Kalyug :coffee:

but we're still much better than many western societies in that regard, I read something about 22 US vets killing themselves every day... and the Japs are the quickest to end their life because 'honor' is a huge cultural deal and almost any random setback can (pun not intended) push them off the edge.

farmer suicides are the biggest shame for us, fuking monsanto mc

the social reasons also vary across the landscape, I'd say some are actually unfairly pushed to the point where they felt they had only 1 way out but many are just weaklings who gave up when they should have fought on...

depression is also a reason, still considered taboo to go seek help for mental ailments here..

but you can't just blame everything on capitalism and religion, it's a more complex problem and we cant just roll back the clock and go all cavemen and live off the land.. humanity needs to adapt to the new realities and challenges.

farmer suicides are the biggest shame for us, fuking monsanto mc

well, monsanto is not the only one to blame... there is also the micro-credit lenders ( there's a well-known one whose name i fail to remember ) who give only enough money to buy something but not an amount to really lift a farmer's life... other lenders charge interest and the farmer will have spent that money on cultural things ( weddings, festivals etc ) and when his crops fail due to various reasons, the easy way out he sees is...

one article from 2013 ( indian express newspaper, i think ) spoke of august being the month for most number of suicides in maharashtra.

the social reasons also vary across the landscape, I'd say some are actually unfairly pushed to the point where they felt they had only 1 way out

true... like the wife of a engineer of kingfisher airlines who suicided in 2012 in bombay.

but many are just weaklings who gave up when they should have fought on...

true... like students who are interested in things other than writing exams but don't fight back against their family who pressurize them only because the mother ( mostly ) has to have an upper hand in gossip sessions.

depression is also a reason, still considered taboo to go seek help for mental ailments here..

actually, depression is really a society-induced condition because it is elements from society that either taunt the person or don't allow the person to do what he or she wants.

most of psychiatry is a fake science... they give a depressed person some numbing chemicals rather than realize that the problem is in the society... they don't tell the person to drop out of school or college to do what he or she really wants ( like start a business )... they rather tell the person to take some chemicals and again try for the exam, which again puts the person into depression and the psychiatrists earn more money.

we're pretty off-topic, aren't we ? :what:

but hopefully once the current right wing guvment can roll out the massive industrialization program, no one will have time for suicide or to join the maoist mafias :P

700 million to migrate to cities in the next couple decades, most of those cities don't even exist yet... so much infra work to be done. :big_boss:
