Manmeet Kaur becomes first Sikh TV Anchor in Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan—23 years old Peshawar based Manmeet Kaur has been appointed as TV anchor by the Pakistani channel Hum TV. With this appointment, Manmeet Kaur has become first female Sikh reporter in Pakistan.

Owned by Hum Network Limited, the Hum TV is a 24-hour entertainment TV channel based in Karachi, Pakistan. It was founded by Sultana Siddiqui and Duraid Qureshi.

After offering prayer in a Gurdwara Sahib of Peshawar (Pakistan) on May 11, Manmeet Kaur said that she is feeling proud after getting appointed as a Reporter in Hum TV. She added that now she has become able to bring the difficulties of Sikhs into limelight via media. “I will serve my duties with full dedication and honesty” she maintained.

To me, Every Pakistani irrespective of his/her language, caste or religion is a gem and priceless asset. All we need to do is to harvest upon the best of their abilities and gifts they are blessed with. This reminded me of the rigorous process of shortlisting, selection, mock transmissions, final selection and then my first day in front of a mic on octagonal desk of the studio in Radio Pakistan Head Quarters Islamabad as Category A Anchor. i can understand how she would have felt in those moments. best of luck Manmeet Kaur Jee and hope to see more of Pakistanis excel in their careers.
