This Lahore man becomes first case of cyber crime punishments when he was prosecuted and was sent to jail for two years in addition to a fine of Rs. 30,000 for photoshopping pictures and then uploading them to social media websites.

Yasir Latif, the culprit, was accused of photoshopping pictures of girls and uploading them on social networks. The case was heard in the Additional District and Session Judge in Lahore. The case argued that Yasir photoshopped pictures of women and uploaded them on the internet, according to the complaints filed by the girls’ parents.

The culprit was adamant that he didn’t do it, saying that the charges were baseless and someone else used his account to upload pictures on Facebook. The court decided against him and sentenced him to prison for 2 years with a Rs. 30,000 fine.

Obtaining the pictures of the girls would have him charged for cyber stalking while making pictures videos and distributing them without consent is also illegal under the Cyber Crime law.

For cyberstalking, a person can be charged up to Rs. 1 million in fine or up to 3 years in prison. A person can be given both punishments together as well.

As for making/distributing videos and pictures of someone without their consent, similar punishments can be levied against them with Rs. 1 million in fine and up to 3 years jail time.

The Cyber Crime Bill 2016 was passed this year in August. It was passed after much debate and after going through several amendments. The bill provides a basic framework of laws which prevent cyber crimes in the country.

The bill has been criticized for being too vague by the Lahore High Court but no amendments have been made to it after it was originally approved in August.

Good to see that Girls should also be careful in posting pictures and if they avoid it it's better. But these kind of morons need to be sent to Jail for at least 5 years.

Good step but question is here, how they verify that he really did that ? I mean how the agency investigate this ? There is no Facebook headquarter in Pakistan. The only way is to verify through IP address which is highly unlikely possible to trace here in Pakistan (link IP address with the accused person FB account). How the investigation officer trace IP of a accused person who actually uploading pictures is the same for whom parents complaining about. Very complicated...

i know 2 3 people here in Hyd who sometime uses pics of their gf to force them to not leave them..

sir NC3Rs (FIA cybercrime) requests the companies for data log except for google under international cyber law treaty and the companies respond back them in 2-3 days. This guy was running account on Facebook as LC Flag posting the pictures of girls from Lahore college of woman university particularly education department. Senior Staff of LCWU approaches NC3Rs about 20 days ago and logged complain about an online scam.

This unfortunate phenomenon somehow escapes attention of Feminists. They want to promote dating culture, ignoring its perils, but will speak against institution of marriage.

Bullsh1t. Sir google withdraws itself on exposed by Edward Snowden. According to international US laws that any data that is being stored in the US based servers belong to the US. Recently google started to inform the users that you are being targeted by Govt. backed attackers.

It the slap on the faces who accused Pakistan of terrorism promoter. Pakistan cooperates to International community for Peace prevailing.

Call me old fashioned but I have never understood the stupidity of young girls allowing their boyfriends to film them in the act on their cell phones.

No one should be allowed to be that stupid.
Young guys blackmail them. Girls don't know they will blackmail them nor it is written on anybody face. Actually we need to make more strict laws , so that our girls , woman feel more secure. This is their right to use social media or whatever they want. And 2 year jail is good term, i say. Good step by court:tup:

You need to report it.............. Cyber bill law is already approved, they can't escape.

Bhai, as a man would you ever put any part of your body into something that was sharp and could cut the part off in case it closed. Would it matter then whether it was involuntary, accidental or on purpose? Your part is gone.

Hope that explains the futility of your reasoning.
